Went to the restaurant to enjoy a meal with my sons. The musty damp smell really put me off but my boys insisted we stayed. Female at the bar was very frosty but she assured me at 17.45 that if we ordered a main meal the chef would still be available for desserts. She had a great problem ordering the... More

I stayed here this weekend (12/01/13) with my partner and my cousin and his wife. The rooms themselves were lovely – we stayed in the Constable Suite. The water was nice and hot for a bath and tea, coffee and water was all provided in the room. The pub downstairs was very nice and homely and everyone was very friendly.... More

Not long ago,I had some intensive restoration work done at my home, so I decided to stay at one of the local Inns in my village. I decided to choose The Marlborough because it has a more homely feel to it than the other Inn the village has to offer. Firstly, the staff are really good I was shown to my... More

We stayed in the Constable room for 2 nights. Bed quite comfortable, tea tray very well stocked but the bathroom a disapointment. Not only did it take 2 flushes every time but we had no hot water on the 2nd morning ! Breakfast was not served until 9.00am and that was over the road in the tearooms. We were in Essex... More

First things first, Dedham is a place of outstanding beauty and historically preserved, so rooms to stay are never going to be cheap. That being said, for £95 with no breakfast you don't expect to have to kneel down in the bath to hand shower yourself with barely adequate water pressure and there to be no shower hook or curtain.... All accommodation has peak times when it is more expensive and Dedham on a Saturday Night in August is as peak as peak gets! Breakfast is provided but yes, its £6.50 extra if you want it, not everyone does. We’re slightly puzzled by your bath antics, and like yourself we neither would expect you to be kneeling in the bath... More

This is a quaint pub/hotel in a central location in the beautiful village of Dedham. Sadly, the room was very basic and in desperate need of renovation. The beds were very uncomfortable, poor hubby didn't sleep a wink, resorting in laying on the duvet to try and cover the springs! The shower fitting came off the wall and it generally... More

Very old and quaint inn. Room and bed was very comfortable but bathroom very small and shower not really up to much. Very friendly staff and excellent location right in the centre of Dedham. Great for walking the Dedham Vale and seeing all the places where Constable painted. No breakfast supplied though but there is a tea room just across... More

This was quite a pleasant experience on the whole, without going into too much detail on the condition of the toilets. I had the Venison pie which was on the specials board, very good if a little too highly seasoned. The beer was also commendable. Go back again, not sure.

We stayed here for the weekend whilst visiting friends, a superb location in the heart of Constable country, staff were so friendly and helpful! The food was delicious, freshly cooked and generous portions! The log fires really created an incredible atmosphere! Will definately be booking here again!

Stayed here with my partner at the weekend, had a lovely time. We were greeted on arrival with a friendly warm atmosphere. Throughly enjoyed our meal and the live music on the Saturday evening. Good value for money in what can be a very expensive place to stay!
