Used to be a good place for lunch or tea, a relaxing place with well spaced out tables, and great mackerel ploughmans with home made gooseberry chutney, simple mixed salad, and huge chunks of tasty wholegrain bread. Service was always a bit slow on sunny days, when they are inundated with customers, but since it changed hands recently, now takes... More

We were on a weekend walk from Lewes to Eastbourne & had stopped in Alfriston overnight. The Sunday morning we walked through Friston Forest to Exceat and to the farmhouse for coffee & cakes - super! Helpful service as we has one person in our party with food allergies.

Strewth! Ordered afternoon tea but should have ordered it two hours in advance! Three teenagers in charge on a Sunday afternoon - none of them knew what they were doing. Got orders muddled, people walking out because of wait! Must have lost a fortune in the half hour we waited!!! Such a shame in a beautiful location - won't bother... More

On Sunday 29th June at 3.30pm 12 of us arrived at these tea rooms (seems to be a wrong category of "hotel" on Trip Advisor). Very few customers so we made separate orders at our leisure. I was first off the mark and as there were no staff in the courtyard around made my way inside, having made a note... More

Exceat Famhouse offers an extensive lunch menu during the summer while in the winter months you can enjoy tea, cakes, sandwiches and the brunch menu. This includes the best Eggs Benedict I have ever eaten. The eggs were poached exactly as requested and arrived on slices of high quality ham, nicely cooked spinach and toasted muffins surrounded by excellent hollandaise... More

Stopped there while walking from Seaford to the Seven Sisters. This small restaurant has a short menu but the food was delicious. On a sunny day, they have tables in the courtyard which means you can keep enjoying the good weather togeher with the food. The service was very attentive and efficient.

If you can’t poach an egg should you call yourself a chef? After a long walk on a cold day we were pleased to discover an extensive and inviting menu at Exceat Farmhouse. Eggs Benedict is a real treat, and just enough for a light lunch, so we all ordered it. The waitress asked if we would like smoked salmon... More

My partner and I went to Seven Sisters for a walk on a lovely sunny Sunday. We decided to stop for a bite to eat and chose the Exceat Farmhouse as it was close... We ordered a ploughman's each - one makerel and one cheddar... OMG!!! We're not fussy eaters but they were both terrible. The bread was stale, the... More

My husband were visting the area over Easter, so decided to stop at the Farmhouse for lunch. We had a delicious and generous ploughmans and a Welsh rarebit, as well as a lovely slice of Simnel cake and a hot cross bun. It was bitter outside, however we were welcomed into the charming farmhouse by the friendly staff (and cat)... More

We recently had a pleasant light lunch here. The food was nice and the surroundings are quaint and attractive. We were served by two nice young lads and service was prompt. I have to say it was with some trepidation that we entered this establishment as a few years ago we encountered the rudest and most surly waitress that I... More
