What a wonderful, welcoming, whimsical and thoroughly delightful escape! Theo was the best of hosts and all the staff were delightful. The food was sublime (creative, local, plentiful...) and the cozy, comforting public area delightful. Much, much thought has been put into creating a wonderful experience. Non-stuffy but every detail looked to. Cannot wait to return!

This hotel deserves to be highly recommended and receive the accolades that it does. Having arrived on bikes and asked where we might park them overnight, we couldn't have been made more welcome when the barman not only helped us with our panniers but carried our bikes up to a first floor room for safe storage. The hotel is well... More

This hotel/pub breaks the mould. The place is a clever fusion of British Boho/faux Parisienne. There are lovely touches here and there and the odd bits of imagination and invention will please most guests. Fixtures and fittings are not immaculate and the boho feel of the place helps to forgive this. I suspect the proprietors will be vigilant to ensuring... More

This place has it all! Well kept local real ales, wonderful wine selection, superb food and a lovely room to stay in. Dog friendly. Situated near the harbour in this very picturesque Cinque Port where accessibility to the Sussex and Kent coastlines is easy, plus beautiful inland countryside. The owners have managed to create a very relaxed atmosphere. We shall... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ship for two nights over a weekend, and had a wonderful time - I'd definitely recommend The Ship to friends and colleagues travelling to this beautiful part of the English coast. We loved the decor - someone there has a brilliant eye for classy and quirky design - and the little touches like... More

We spend one night at the Ship Inn in February. The initial impression was not good. A bar which looked very scruffy in daylight and an equally scruffy staircase leading to the room. The room, however, was bright and clean, though a little spartan. It had all the basics, except for a light over the washbasin. At £110 per night... More

What a lovely place to happen upon; even on a wet winter's day, a cup of coffee here managed to lift our mood. It's as if you have walked off the street into a friends sitting room, with a fire burning in the grate, relaxed seating arrangements and subdued lighting. I especially liked the finishing touches; daily papers, board games... More

We totally enjoyed our afternoon in the ship, we had some great beers & wine and happily sat and played a game of trivial pursuits whilst doing so! The music played was excellent. The staff really friendly and helpful. We had already eaten lunch before we arrived but the food looked lovely and we will want to eat here when... More

The Ship Inn is a lovely place to stay in Rye. Unpretentious with friendly staff and comfy rooms. Nice and warm too! The food was very good and the breakfast lovely. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus. Burts Bees products in the bathroom, tea and coffee, lovely fluffy quilts. DVD players available for your room and a selection... More
