Having eaten a restaurant close by and the evening was young we popped into the Ship Inn. We were welcomed warmly by the bar tender who served us promptly. The pub is nicely decorated and offers a comfortable & relaxing environment with piped music.

Have now stayed twice here, on both occasions with my dog. The staff are super friendly, the food - especially breakfast - is wonderful and the rooms are clean and well presented. I worry when I stay somewhere that allows dogs - illogical I know - but the rooms are really clean but at no time did I feel that... More

We arrived on late on a busy Saturday lunchtime having not booked! A table was found and menus given. Service was really friendly although a little slow. The lady behind the bar supplied samples of the real ales as I didn't know them, enabling to have a pint of something I would enjoy! The menu wasn't extensive but the variety... More

Cannot fault The Ship. Stayed here last night with our little rescue dog. The staff could not have been more friendly and understanding of Milo's, erm, foibles. Our meal in the evening was delicious. I can recommend the hake! A late night taste of the whisky collection was an additional treat. Warm and friendly atmosphere and our room, number 3,... More

Rye has a great choice for places to eat. Shame we chose this place. Grossly over priced and not much of a plateful. What makes it even less palatable is this fad of offering thin rustic chips. In other words, lazy chips the chef cannot be bothered to peel. I do not mind rustic chips when they are chunky. But,... More

Lovely place, quirky rooms with added unexpected luxuries. Very friendly staff and couldn't be more accommodating for the dog. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. A stones throw from the lovely little village of Rye. There is a small car park just behind the premises which is pay and display but not expensive so parking was not an issue.... More

Great staff, really friendly and good , honest & plentiful food. Have been a few times and will be back again. Well worth a visit. Certainly not arty-farty food but good and so tasty especially with one of the good beers on tap.

We travelled to Rye for a day trip, and had been recommended the Ship Inn for lunch. While in ambiance it provided us with a really cosy country pub, beside the river, we were quite astonished at the prices of food for lunch. Over £8 for a scotch egg, even by London standards, feels extortionate. There were 3 of us... More

Just popped in for a quick drink on Boxing Day-very early, so we were the only customers. We were immediately served by smiley young staff and we were very impressed by the interior standard of this pub/ restaurant/hotel. Given more time, we would have loved to have eaten here--very cosy feel to the place.

The whole family including my three teenage daughters, grandad and our dog had a very relaxing afternoon in this warm and friendly pub. There was an excellent selection of soft/ alcoholic and local drinks. We also enjoyed that there were lots of board games to play! Recommend highly.
