Couldn't find the place for over an hour, we kept telephoning the house but no answer. Asked 6 villagers who had never heard of it. Eventually did find it - No sign at the entrance just an old sign on the gate saying Moat House!! Knocked on the door and the lady came out, I started to get the luggage... more

A really special break, in a truly special environment. The owners could not have been more helpful and the bedrooms, bahrooms etc were excellent - down to the lovely flannels with pretty cotton borders. Excellent breakfast, and beautiful table with wedgewood china, glasses and silver sauce holders. Loved the Aga toast and pancakes. Will recommend to all. more

I booked a long weekend away at the Old Moate house for my partner and I as a special treat (it's the first 5diamond B&B we'd tried). Oh dear, what a mistake. We had a terrible job finding the place because it doesn't have a proper guest house sign - just a manky old house name with the 'old' added... more

I stayed here several times during 2005 and 2006 when I visited the area for work. I always found the stay to be worry free and everything you needed was taken care of. The house feels like it's in the middle of nowhere with a large garden around it and plenty of space to relax either in the garden, the... more

Having confirmed my booking through a third party website I received a phone call from the owner of the Olde Moat House to say that she had taken a booking after my one but that she would honour the later one rather than mine, as she did not receive an email from the third party until after she took the... more

A beautful house in stunning grounds. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Beautiful top quality bathroom fittings, and lovely antique furnishings in our good sized bedroom and thoughout the house. We enjoyed the homemade honey and sunflower bread, also the homemade muesli and preseves. We were recommended by friends and will certainly return., hopefully at Christmas. more

Disappointed in the room - we expected a flat screen tv as per the website - but arrived to find old tv with large indoor aerial perched on top. Although furnishings were in keeping with the age of the house felt that everything was a little 'too distressed'. No room information pack provided. Breakfast - no choice offered for hot... more

We were very happy with our stay. I booked the hotel based on positive reviews, and it was a suprise for my husband's birthday. We chose the 4poster room, which was in our opinion the most beautiful one. The owners are a wonderful, social couple, who showed us around the property and really made their guests feel like guests, not... more

My mother, sister, brother-in-law, and I stayed at the Olde Moat House B&B for 4 nights from November 22 thru Nov. 25, 2006. This B&B was built during the Middle Ages and has a huge fireplace and pet sheep in the backyard. The husband and wife team who run the place are friendly and gracious and serve a spectacular breakfast... more
