As stated in the heading, the location of this B&B is one of the main selling points. Mere minutes walk from town center and the inimitable Mermaid Lane. Several good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance and PARKING IS FREE(a huge point in Rye). Nicely appointed room and ensuite in the downstairs of the mill. Friendly owners/staff and a... more

I have mixed feelings regarding our stay at this b&b. We chose it as the guesthouse is an unusual building and we thought it would be a novel experience staying in an old windmill. My partner and I were quite aware when we booked the room that it would NOT be in the actual windmill structure as this only houses... more

I called the Rye Windmill at 10PM to make a booking for 2 days later. On the first phone call, a man answered and said 'it's too late to make a booking' and hanged up before I could finish my sentence. I called again and before I finished my sentence again, he snapped 'I don't care, I said it's too... more

We arrived on a Thursday evening to a very warm welcome from our hosts. We were shown to our suite and shown around the facilities. We chose to stay in the windmill suite which is actually in the windmill itself. It was gorgeous with a huge comfy sleigh bed, flat screen television, chairs and table and a hospitality tray which... more

A very good place to stay. The rooms are not big but ok.The bathrooms though quite big.The decor is nice, neither too much nor too anonymous. The rooms were looked over if not cleaned every day, so it was more like a hotel. I think the breakfast was ok. After all there is a limit to how much, you can... more

The windmill was an excellent chioce for visitors without a car. Within walking distance of the train and bus stations, restaurants, and the entire town of Rye, it offered friendly service, an excellent breakfast ( especially for me-a vegetarian!), clean rooms (although a bit small, but with a large bathroom!), and a generally welcoming atmosphere. Our stay was a joy! more

We stayed here for a weekend break. The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. We were made very welcome and the Reception area appears to have been updated. The dining room was pleasant and the breakfast was wonderful, well cooked, hot and plentiful. We ate at two good restuarants The Monastry and Careys both served excellent food and... more

We chose the Windmill because of it's close proximity to the rail station and the town of Rye. It was perfect. We walked to and from the rail and bus everyday. It was literally minutes. Many of our fellow guests were driving, but for us the location was perfect without a car. There were numerous places to eat within walking... more

Stayed one night in the suite at the windmill - what an experience. The room when you first enter seems a little small due to the low ceiling especially as we are over six feet tall but with the windows that look out on every side of the windmill and the second floor bathroom suite (twin basins seperate free standing... more

We booked for a weekend away & Rye is a fabulous place. However, I was disappointed having paid £75 a night for a superior room. On the good side: the food was excellent being tasty and well cooked. The room itself was clean and the linen new. What we saw of the owners they were pleasant. The location very good... more
