Some things in life thankfully never change and one of those is Jeakes House. Situated on Mermaid St at the heart of beautiful Rye, this small hotel is wonderfully well run by Jenny and Richard. Great rooms (ours had a four-poster) lovely breakfasts and an honesty bar. Its simply the best place to stay in Rye, far better than the... More

Was a lovely location, style and experience. Breakfast was really tasty, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was amazing, with a deep bath that you dont usually get in hotels. Felt a bit out of place as we were the youngest guests there. Really enjoyable and romantic :)

We stayed at lovely Jeakes house for two nights. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfast! The lounge with an honesty bar was very relaxing. Comfortable beds and excellent, powerful shower. Perfect central location for visiting beautiful Rye. Looking forward to staying again soon!

The first thing you notice when arriving at Jeakes House is its setting in one of the oldest streets in Rye: a cobbled street rising towards the parish church. The sense of history continues as you enter Jeakes House, parts of which date back to the 16th century and a former Quaker meeting house. We received a warm welcome and... More

We stayed here for a few nights this summer as we toured around England and France. Jeake's House is a lovely as it looks in the photos and is very well-situated. We rented two rooms -- one on the top floor (I think the room didn't have a name -- just a 2 person en-suite?) and another on the floor... More

Classy town house hotel set on the prettiest street in one of the loveliest towns in Sussex. We stayed in the Malcolm Lowry suite which overlooks Mermaid Street which can be slightly noisy with admiring tourists during the day but was totally peaceful overnight during our two night stay. Classy room, free tea, coffee and biscuits and free wifi. Don't... More

we stayed with our small (very well behaved) dog in this fantastic guest house. The room was immaculate and tastefully furnished, with a very well appointed and chic en- suite shower room. Breakfast was delicious - what a delightful surprise when our dog was presented with her very own dog bowl and breakfast sausage - complete with tiny sprig of... More

10/10 to Amanda the receptionist who couldn't have been more helpful when we arrived, showing us the places to visit on a map and telling us that it was steep in places (I know I don't work out but I am not that infirm!) - she was a mine of useful info. Shown to the room (said it was a... More
