I came across Jeake's House at the recommendation of the local tourism office. Bless the day. A warm welcome to a home of comfy beds, thoughtful touches, warm welcome, and an extra mile with a smile. Add to that a terrific breakfast and touches that felt like you were not so much in an hotel, rather staying with friends you... More

Jeakes House personifies everything Rye stands for. Charming, historical, classy, unique. It doesn't feel like a B and B, the honesty bar/lounch area is like a gentlemen's club, the small sitting room is perfect for reading the complimentary papers or a nightcap. The breakfast room is full of history and the breakfast delicious. We spent a very enjoyable three days... More

This is our second stay at Jeakes House - and it is simply a wonderful hotel. Jenny and Richard have it pitch perfect at Jeakes - you feel like you are staying with a family friend, but with the run on the house. Breakfast is fabulous, the rooms are sumptuous and it is a Rye classic! An honesty bar with... More

Once again Alister Sawday came up trumps! This charming, historic hotel , dating from 16th century, bang in the middle of Rye, is delightfully higgledy piggeldy with steep stairs and twisty corridors. The rooms are all named after famous people - we slept in the Elizabeth Fry room in a fourposter bed which was very comfortable. Sympathetically run by Jenny... More

A two night stay in the area was proving hard to find and so we were lucky that this Sawdays recommendation must have had a cancellation. We stayed in the Elder's Attic and could see why we were asked if I had mobility problems and was happy to climb two flights of stairs.Hidden behind the door was a steep curved... More

Jeake's house is perfection. We stayed in the Lowry suite with its four poster bed and beautiful ensuite. The room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Jeake's breakfast was wonderful and tasty (we had the full English with wild boar sausage). All the staff are friendly and helpful without being in your face and annoying. The honesty bar was the... Some things in life thankfully never change and one of those is Jeakes House. Situated on Mermaid St at the heart of beautiful Rye, this small hotel is wonderfully well run by Jenny and Richard. Great rooms (ours had a four-poster) lovely breakfasts and an honesty bar. Its simply the best place to stay in Rye, far better than the... More

Was a lovely location, style and experience. Breakfast was really tasty, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was amazing, with a deep bath that you dont usually get in hotels. Felt a bit out of place as we were the youngest guests there. Really enjoyable and romantic :)

We stayed at lovely Jeakes house for two nights. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Delicious breakfast! The lounge with an honesty bar was very relaxing. Comfortable beds and excellent, powerful shower. Perfect central location for visiting beautiful Rye. Looking forward to staying again soon!
