We booked this hotel a long time ago - it was lovely however we were allocated (luxury) room 2 directly above the bar/restaurant which meant that it was v.noisy until 12.30 am and as it's near to the creaky staircase we were woken up at 6am ! Thankfully the hotel compensated by reducing the cost of stay and offered a... More

The George in Rye is the perfect boutique hotel. It has all the character of an old inn and all of the luxury one expects today. Quirky and cute rooms, great restaurant, relaxing lounge. We had a fabulous stay. Oh and the staff were also a delight.

We visited The George as part of my girlfriend's birthday celebrations after a fair amount of research named this hotel as one of the best in the area. We arrived after spending the afternoon at Chapel Down and were greeted by a very friendly member of staff who went through the normal check-in procedure. He showed us to our room... More

Having been here many times since it was refurbished a few years ago, every market town needs a place like this. Beautiful, relaxing rooms you don't want to leave, a great bar area (our favourite table is the round one by the fire in the bar under the antlers!), elegant afternoon tea in wing-backed chairs in the lounge and outstanding... I’ve stayed at The George in Rye numerous times over the last 10 years and I’ve always enjoyed my ‎stay. All the rooms are decorated tastefully and are all slightly different. The hotel décor is in keeping ‎with the style of the building – something that can really ruin a place if done incorrectly. The food in ‎both the bar... More

We stayed here again for a birthday celebration using a Groupon deal which included £30 each towards dinner. Our room was beautiful as always and the dinner was fantastic, lots of choice! The service was impeccable and they even brought a plate of chocolate, flapjack and strawberry bites with happy birthday written in chocolate to the table! A really lovely... More

We have visited the George before a few years ago and on that occasion we were pleased with it overall and decided to return for one night to celebrate our anniversary. On arrival we were greeted by a polite and helpful young man, who took our bags, directed us to the car park at the other end of town and... More

Dear ‘Elaine P’ Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We were very pleased to welcome you back to The George, but sorry to hear you were disappointed with your room. As the main part of the hotel dates back from 1575, every bedroom is a different size and shape. Our Queen rooms are our smallest but... More

The George is truly almost perfect - a characterful, ancient but modern hotel with a superb restaurant and surprisingly friendly and happy staff. It only falls down on parking - there isn't any - but there's nothing they can do about that, being situated in the centre of an historic medieval town. We had a fab few days wondering around... Dear 'David H' We couldn't have asked for better feedback, thank you. We enjoyed having you to stay with us. Unfortunately, as you say, we have no car park on site as we are in the middle of a medieval town. The closest car park is just a 3-4 minute walk away and is just £1.50 for 24 hours. We... More
