We popped in for lunch on Saturday and were pleasantly surprised with the service and the food. We just had food from the bar snacks menu but it was lovely, especially the butternut squash soup. We were so impressed we booked a room to return for dinner next week!

My partner booked this up for a romantic weekend away. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left (& we stayed an extra night) it was superb. We were upgraded on arrival which was great. The rooms were perfect (we had a four poster bed for the first 2 nights then a normal large room for the extra... More

Popped into the George today for lunch and am so glad we did. Beautiful venue which has been tastefully decorated, Friendly helpful staff and amazing food. The menu was fantastic, lots of lovely choices. On the pricier side but the quality and presentation of the food reflected this. Will most definitely be back!

Fantastic boutique hotel in a charming village with good service and outstanding rooms, some with small terraces. Both the bar and restaurant was excellent, and we would love to return when the weather would be a bit better.

Went here the other day and was very impressed at the decor, the staff, the food and the general ambiance of the hotel. It's a hotel yes but we went in for lunch. We had a couple of steak ciabattas which were cooked to perfection. Not like steak that you get in sandwiches that is tough, chewy and full of... More

A really quiet room, with lovely bathroom and whilst it was accessed via the outside and we had bad weather the fact that we were not disturbed by lifts or banging doors made it worthwhile. Because of the bad weather we spent time in the bar, as you do! It was busy with lots of atmosphere and was obviously happy... More

We booked in at the George for a birthday treat and I have to say the experience was perfect in every way. I really can't understand some of the negative comments I've seen on Tripadvisor about this hotel; I cannot begin to describe how unjustified and petty most of those grumbles are. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff... More

A great hotel, lovely rooms which are all different. We paid extra for a luxury room but I'm not sure I would bother if we returned as I'm not sure it was that much better than the others. Nice friendly staff, restaurant staff could be a little more attentive. But on the whole a really nice place.

Two Night stay Sunday and Monday. Room number 8 was booked this was classed as a suite and although we were expecting a bigger room it was well presented and clean and comfortable. Bath was lovely and in the main bedroom although I didn't like the drapes around it and subtle lighting above it would have been better. No refills... More

Our room was so lovely. Nice furnishing including a chaise longue. Loads of blankets, cushions. A dressing gown each and a hot water bottle. Quality bath products and tea/coffee. The dinner in the restaurant let it down slightly. It was nice but not exceptional. Wonderful breakfast with really good kippers, eggs benedict etc.
