After a shambolic stay over Christmas we were invited back to the George for one night stay with our two teenage girls. A very big difference I must say. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. No slippers in the room which was a disapointment but apart from that everything was very good.

Unfortunately there was a power cut for most of the night we stayed. For some reason as well as not having any electricity at all this also meant there was no running water. When we went to our room for the night we were given four tealights and were told we had one flush of the toilet so we should... More

One night stay on business. Very friendly and helpful staff (free 1/2 pint to try a beer didn't go amiss!) Excellent slightly quirky room (loved it) with radiator and windows that open of course, way better than aircon. An absolutely superb dinner in a delightful classic old Kent room. Good breakfast, with more clean crisp fresh air! What more do... More

We always try and choose somewhere with lots of style and character for our anniversary weekends away and The George at Rye certainly lived up to expectations. The old coaching inn oozed personality and charm and the quirky, individual way in which it had been decorated complemented the historic backcloth perfectly. I loved all the thoughtful and often fun design... More

We stayed in Rye on the way to France and we were very pleased to be able to stay at The George. In such a pretty town on a pretty street, the hotel is lovely. The staff are very welcoming and the room, although a little squishy when the sofa is pulled out for a bed, is beautifully decorated -... More

Went here last Friday.Sorry,it's ok, but this is a pub diner and thats all it is. Table placed 2 metres from hot serving area of grill and right next to other tables so little privacy. Food is expensive and pricey for what you get.Acceptable food but nothing outstanding As a pub restaurant it's fine but thats where the line stops... More

We stayed in one of the junior suites (no. 32) for one night. The room was very spacious and tastefully decorated with a luxurious bathroom. We enjoyed a great dinner where all three courses were of a very high standard and service was friendly, slick and attentive. Even though we had a large dinner, we ended up having a big... More

We attended a wedding at the George and also stayed here. Very impressed throughout by the hotel, the room and the service we received. Reception were extremely friendly and accommodating re various requests eg printing out a speech for the wedding! The room was lovely, nicely decorated, extremely clean. The food was great - room service lunch, dinner at the... More

Dear 'WalkerSLJ' We're so glad you enjoyed the wedding, the food and good service from all our staff. The Hotel is an old coaching inn and dates back from 1575 so the rooms are all of different shapes and sizes. We hope that you'll come back and spend time with us again! We'd decided to make the most of another sunny day and drive down to Rye. On impulse we decided to stay overnight, and I called The George and was told there were only superior rooms and suites available at a minimum cost of £175 (inc breakfast). I checked online, where the cheapest room available was a "queen" at £135 inclusive... More

I was brought to the George as a surprise for my birthday by my girlfriend. Emma had called ahead to find out about parking, and was told there was none. Usually this would have been an issue, but in a town like rye, there's no shortage of car parks. Once we'd parked and made our way back to the hotel,... More

Dear 'Dave Q' We're delighted that you had a lovely stay with us for your birthday! It's good to hear that the lack of parking on site wasn't an issue. As you say there are numerous car parks in Rye within very close proximity, the closest of which is just £1.50 for 24 hours. Please come back and see us... More
