Although famous for its past, the Hope Anchor is known locally for its stunning views across the Quayside, Romney Marshes, Camber Castle and beyond to the sea. Most of our rooms enjoy these panoramic views and to be honest they need to be seen to be believed. Although beautiful all year round the sunsets in summer bring locals young and old to enjoy alfresco dining accompanied of course with a glass or two of wine! more » « less

Rye itself is incredibly beautiful, and this property couldn't be in a better location. We stayed in the Fisherman's cottage and what a lovely place. We had an upstairs bedroom and bath and a downstairs living area all private from the main building. Nice for privacy. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. I would highly recommend this... more

We stayed in the adjoining cottage to the actual hotel which was lovely. We have a young baby and it was perfect - a nice, clean, well furnished bedroom upstairs with bathroom, and a good sized lounge with dining table and small kitchen downstairs. We only stayed one night but the staff were so friendly and helpful during our time... more

We had to stay in hotel as my daugher had a photoshoot. We chose this hotel based on reviews on here and were pleasantly suprised. The location was good we, easily walked to the centre of town, down the cobbled streets. Reception was very quick Our room was a double bedded room which had a view over a strand quay.... more

We recently stayed at the Hotel having read other tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The receptionist is extremely friendly, which immediately set a nice tone for the stay. She personally took us to our room, the Junior Suite which was lovely, with step down to a cosy bedroom. Yes the furniture is a little dated but it adds to... more

We unfortunately had to vist Rye for a family funeral and looked on the internet for somewhere to stay. The Hotel had the best reviews of all Rye ones I found and I loved the sound of the 200 year old... more

The Hope Anchor is the sort of hotel you find all over France but sadly hardly ever stumble across in England – friendly, family run and priced a little above a faceless motel but miles below all those places that fancy themselves and charge accordingly. My wife and I happened across the Hope Anchor as we wanted to extend our... more

The hotel is in Watchbell street, which is at the top, and at the back of old Rye. There is limited parking, but the hotel will give you a resident parking permit and you park in the road. The entrance is a little disappointing, it needs a few warm lights. Likewise the area leading to the public toilets, very bland,... more

The Hope Anchor ...... 8th April 2006 We have just returned from our fifth visit to this wonderfully friendly, mid_ 18th century hotel situated at the very heart of the town overlooking the marshes and out to sea, on Rye's highest point. We will suffer withdrawal symptoms for weeks. Everything about the hotel is outstanding. Each room is fresh, clean and... more
