Although famous for its past, the Hope Anchor is known locally for its stunning views across the Quayside, Romney Marshes, Camber Castle and beyond to the sea. Most of our rooms enjoy these panoramic views and to be honest they need to be seen to be believed. Although beautiful all year round the sunsets in summer bring locals young and old to enjoy alfresco dining accompanied of course with a glass or two of wine! more » « less

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The food was amazing, the staff friendly, helpful and obviously well trained, and the room spacious and comfortable. It was in a great location for views and strolling to town and, despite limited parking at the hotel itself, there was no real problem. Excellent value for money. more

A very good three night mid-week stay in a comfortable hotel in an attractive part of Rye. The food and service were excellent and the staff all very friendly and helpful. We will return! more

I stayed here for 2 nights and although the hotel itself is OK when we checked out the price charged was not the price that had been quoted. As I had no written proof (although they did not either!) they charged the higher price to my card. I was very disappointed that they seem to be able to change their... more

I booked the Hope Anchor for a business visit to nearby New Romney. The hotel were very friendly and helpful when I made the reservation and also on arrival. I had a very small room which was comfortable, although some of the furniture had clearly seen better days. Likewise for the price (£75) I would normally expect to see more... more

Good location in a pretty part of Rye which in itself is a pretty town. Our room had nice views too. Although the room was very small it had a real charm to it, we were given the choice of a bigger room but this was like something out of a novel. The hotel is full of charm and claims... more

Had a wonderful 3 night stay in this lovely hotel. The Admiral's Apartment is huge (especially the lounge) It has a pleasant patio with great view - though unfortunately we could not take advantage of this due to the awful weather! Despite the weather apartment was very warm and cosy. We ate in the hotel one night and the food... more

We stayed in the Sankey Suite - excellent double fourposter, separate small sitting room with two very comfortable armchairs and its own[i.e second] TV, modern bathroom with bath/shower. Good view over the boats on the River Tillingham and the marshes. Breakfast was very good. We dined once in the restaurant - also very good. The welcome was friendly and set... more

We booked a two night 'wine and dine and stay for free' break for a quiet few days together and had a lovely time. The room (The Jolly Sailor) was super - very clean with nice toiletries and warm towels. The food was good with a decent range of fish and wine and good options for vegetarians. The outstanding thing... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night. We stayed in the Hidden Treasure cottage just behind the main hotel building. We absolutly adored the cottage and can't wait to return. We wanted a quiet, romantic weekend away and really can't imagine a better place to stay for our budget. If I'm to be totally honest, the cottage needs... more
