We had 2 nights in the Dorset. Large, clean room, well appointed for the price range, comfortable, with good standard shower room. No noise whatsoever from the public house below. Seemed as though the rooms were situated off to the side in this ancient inn, so that no noise permeated. Parking good - the public car park was a few... More

My husband and myself have stayed at the Dorset a number of times and have been well impressed with both the rooms and the food. Very good value and the staff are so polite and courteous and couldn't do enough to help. We would definitely stay again. The location is brilliant for the quaint town of Lewes and the proximity... Looking at previous reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. We were in the area visiting friends and wanted an easy meal out. Parking outside The Dorest is cheap and plentiful, with a large council pay and display carpark out the front (£2-something for four hours). As you approach the pub, there is an outside seating area with benches and... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in January on a short break in Lewes. The lady behind the bar was very efficient with the check-in and also showed us to the after hours entrance in case we came back late. The room was very nicely decorated, comfortable, warm and flawlessly clean. We decided to eat in the... More

We met some of the family at the Dorset at lunchtime on Saturday 11th January. The menu didn't particularly float our boat but as time was getting on we did need to eat. We ordered 3 fish and chip meals @ £9.25 each and a Panini. When the meals arrived I was appalled at that which was presented to us.... More

Unfortunately I cannot disagree with any part of Robert's review, the 3 dishes in question were not fit to leave the kitchen, and I apologise once again. We took over at The Dorset exactly one year ago and thankfully instances like this have been few and far between. Reviews have generally been positive and each day we strive to do... More

Great staff and love being here, atmosphere is more than pub-like, it's easy to relax in after work. I come in here with friends regularly and love to spend time here. The staff that I have met are engaging and it makes the visit even better.

Because of the Labour Party Conference in Brighton I found myself looking for accommodation further afield and ended up in Lewes. It is a pleasant town, about a 15 minute drive from Brighton and Hove and was very handy for the cricket at Hove. The Dorset is a lovely pub with lots of character. The rooms were a decent size... Traveled down from Lancashire to visit a local company, spent one night at the Dorset, warm and friendly welcome from the bar staff. The evening meal and breakfast was excellent, i would recommend trying the real ale on offer. The rooms are very clean and tidy.
