Absolutely ideal after a long day to be greeted with a smile and genuine conversation. The experience further enhanced by clear directions to a lovey room with all of the basic facilities expected for a comfortable nights sleep! (ok so perhaps the mattress could have been a little softer but that's just being picky!). At dinner time again greeted with... More

Stayed here for a stag do and I can honestly say that I was very happy for the price paid. The room was clean as was the the bathroom and the shower was powerful. The only thing I could criticise was the room was on the warm side but after turning off the rad and opening the window for a... More

I don't often leave reviews but I do often stay in hotels so because this little place is really, really difficult to describe I'm going to have a go! The good stuff far outweighs the fact that the hotel is stuck in a time warp (I personally loved the very retro carpet in the hall and stairways). The room and... More

The owner should be ashamed as i witnessed was attacked by another employee. The room had woodlouse and mould in and i was shouted at while trying to eat my meal by a member of staff. I would suggest no one go here as it is not a place for anyone heading for a nice visit.

Thank you for your comments following your visit. However on checking our register we had no guest staying in our hotel on the dates referred to and it would have been very helpful to us if the alleged conduct of the staff had been brought to our attention immediately whereupon we could have issued any disciplinary procedures necessary. Hopefully this... More

do NOT eat at the Newmarket. As a family we have been going their on Boxing Day for the past six years. We should have been warned when on arrival there was no other customers and certainly none arrived either for a meal or to have a drink the whole hour or so we were there. They Newmarket used to... Room vary dramatically in decor and style. After moving room, had a twin room on ground floor. I moved room as TV and kettle did not work, a colleague joined me the next day and was put in the same room and the kettle and TV still did not work! Woken up in night by rumbling pipes and what I... I wasn't sure what to expect, having driven past it a number of times on the A27 I was worried about road noise. However I needn't have worried, the double glazing drowns out the road noise even from a room at the front. The rooms I stayed in was surprisingly big with a big comfy double bed and even a... More

This rather ordinary looking inn was made special for us by a really warm welcome from the owners who went out of their way to be helpful. We arrived with very little time to spare before an evening event, due to conditions on the roads, and our hostess whipped up some hot and delicious snacks for us in next to... More

Feared the worst when we arrived as the place is right on a busy 'A Road' and at the back there was a train line but thankfully the insides are double glazed and you hardly hear anything. The staff were all very nice, the accommodation was lovely. The food was good but probably a little bit overpriced. Not in Lewes... More

We had a family room which was very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. It had everything you needed, including a good shower, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was excellent. It is on a busy road but it didn't disturb us at all and the location was perfect for a quick trip to visit the university.
