Came here for a short weekend break with my girlfriend. The hotel lobby, dining rooms and garden were stunning, however, the room itself was very average - quite small, damaged furniture and relatively sparsely decorated. Did not have dinner there, only breakfast (the food and service was good). Overall feel it was a little overpriced so not sure I will... More

I stayed here on a business trip and I found the hotel to be a very pleasant yet quirky establishment. My room was in the large house however I believe there may be some modern rooms across the courtyard. The room was very clean tidy and well appointed if not old and creaky. The hotel served a very nice breakfast... More

We didn't stay here, but we had dinner. The menu was small, so we expected first rate food, assuming that it would all have been cooked beautifully from local produce. Sadly, it wasn't first rate. One of us had the smoked salmon and fennel slaw starter - which came with a large splinter of plastic from the tub the coleslaw... More

Stayed here for a conference recently, and really liked the beautiful hotel grounds, the meeting rooms, and all the support services and friendly staff who were very attentive throughout. However, as far as actual accommodation goes, it was a bit of a let-down. For such a beautiful village setting, the decor of the hotel and rooms is pretty bland; and... More

Taking over an hour to check in due to staff not being able to log into computer system, to then be shown to a room which can only be describe as a small storage room on the outside of the building that's had a lick of paint and a single bed thrown into it, the room was also freezing cold.... You drive in and expectations are set - a lovely building in the Centre of Lewes. You walk into reception and your expectations are gradually eroded by a series of poor experiences - all of which are totally avoidable. 'You can't park here sir we have a wedding on'. Unusual greeting for a guest!! But OK, where have you arranged... More

Not a bad hotel, lovely staff- they managed to get us sandwiches made during a strange "no service period" between end of dinner and room service offerings. provided an ok breakfast, but rooms and bath facilities a bit tatty. TV in room didn't work. Nice views from our room.Would stay again as it's relatively cheap but would request first floor... More

We wanted a quiet place to getaway for the night, and this looked lovely on the website. We booked a standard room, but when we arrived it was clear that whichever room was photographed and advertised as standard, it wasn't ours - as we were put in a tiny room in the eaves, noticeably much smaller than the website. To... More

We booked through a Groupon deal. The room was the Bridal suite and had a huge bathroom with a stand alone bath in the middle of the room. The bedroom was lovely with gorgeous wallpaper and a four poster bed. The bedding was of high quality and led to a really good nights sleep. The staff were very attentive and... More

Back after an absence of a couple of years we are greeted by staff as old friends, which is very pleasant after a long journey and gets us a quick upgrade to a better room. It’s not huge, but comfortably located in a turret overlooking the garden with scented wisteria creeping around the windows. As a listed historic property, the... More
