Stayed here for one night for a weekend trip to Lewes and Brighton. 1st time to Lewes and loved it! - loads of great antique and vintage shops, arty shops, cafés and restaurants. The hotel is a beautiful house right in the centre of town, staff welcoming and friendly, it could probably do with a refurb (has so much potential... More

Very clean rooms, updated bathrooms and beautiful grounds. The Ritz it ain't, but if your looking for old world British charm, this is a great spot. Strong free wifi. Nice bar inside and breakfast was excellent. I also had afternoon tea here in the rear of the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful view. I can't say enough about how... More

The hotel has a perfect central location with very nice gardens. The public areas are set in a historic building and have a good mix of the old and the new with modern paintings. Our bedroom was good, but did not really have any wow factor for the price. Breakfast was good and served in an historic panelled room, but... More

Full of old world charm, the building dates back to the 16th century and is right in the centre of Lewes. The décor adds a touch of modernity, a bit of fun and some cautious funkiness! I have stayed there before two years ago when my Mum and I make our annual pilgrimage to the opera at Glyndebourne … and... More

Stayed for 3 nights in a small room with tiny bathroom at the top of the house. A large skylight with no blackout above the bed kept us awake from 5.30 onwards. Lovely view of the Downs though. The whole hotel feels rather shabby (not at all chic) and was frankly rather dirty. Loud rock music in the bar was... More

I'll come back to Glyndebourne, as not everyone goes to Lewes to attend the opera. Pelham House must have a very interesting history and must have been an extremely grand town house; it wouldn't be out of place in its own rolling acres. The beautiful mellow brick facade faces away from the street - or really narrow lane - from... More

We stayed only for one night, before attending an auction at Wallis & Walis. Pelham House is a lovely old style hotel with geat charm. The welcome was good, dinner in the restaurant also good, and breakfast the following morning was very good. Plentiful and very tasty. Good service throughout. Our room was across the courtyard in what seemed like... More

Nice hotel but guests (and the reception staff) need to be aware of the car parking problem at the railway station. There is limited parking at the hotel although with better organisation they could increase it. Reception tell you to park at railway station and get a daily ticket. This runs out at midnight!!! Unless you walk down at midnight... More

We loved our one night stay at Pelham House in June 2014. We were visiting the UK for a wedding so our Internet Booking was confirmed months in advance and this was a first visit based on WEB based details, photos and reviews. The hotel is beautiful and the gardens, overlooking the South Downs, were a delight for alfresco dining.... More

Lewes is a lovely town to wander around and Pelham House hotel is central and easy to reach, just a few paces down a small steep hill off the high street. Afternoon tea served in the pleasant garden by equally pleasant staff should have been a treat. As afternoon tea in a hotel goes it's not very expensive but sadly... More
