Lovely cosy pub with open fire. Very warm & inviting. Ordered food. Was very quiet but waited over half an hour for our starters. Soup & spinach & ricotta mushroom. Soup nice but bit pricey at £4.50. Mushroom starter £5. One mushroom..! Yes.. One small mushroom with a teaspoon of spinach & ricotta. Delicious but at £5 should be several... More

Very, very cosy pub. Lunch time. Waited over half an hour for our starters even though the pub was very quiet.. My partner had soup for starter at £4.50 I had spinach & ricotta mushroom at £5. Very disappointed. Tintsy tiny mushroom with less than a teaspoon of spinach & ricotta.. Should have been a very large mushroom with ample... More

The Anchor was the venue for my son's wedding reception in June 2012 - it was fantastic then and today was the first opportunity I had to return ........ it did not disappoint. There were 4 adults and one toddler (lots of toys to keep him amused!). The winter menu for Sunday was limited but something for everyone including a... More

After spending many happy years visiting this pub as a child attending all their vintage car events etc with my family.. we thought this would be a good spot to reminisce our youth and life after my father sadly passed away 7 months ago..after about 25 yrs (yes 25) of visiting last I was happy to see the building and... We visited unannounced with a view to checking the establishment as a wedding venue. It would not be very easy to find for those from outside the area with a narrow single track road on the approach. On arrival the first impression was that it would make an ideal wedding venue on a warm summers day. Sadly, on further inspection... More

We stayed at the Anchor Inn's chalet for 2 nights to attend our daughters wedding being held there. The landlord Simon was extremely courteous and nothing was too much trouble. The whole weekend was extremely relaxed and the wedding reception a total joy. Sally and her team also ran everything brilliantly. Yes it may be a little tired in places... More

After a lovely canoe trip on the Ouse, we decided to have a drink in the Anchor Inn. Despite having loads of room on their moorings, they refused point blank to allow us to land or tie up a canoe so we could spend money in their establishment. I can only assume that business must be really good if they... More

Excellent location, decent pub food with good portions, feels like slipping out of time when rowing and swimming in the river. Great places for collecting memories with kids and grandmas too! Is far too busy on a sunny Saturday/bank holiday and expect to queue as you would with any popular pub at these times. A complete idyll the rest of... More

We went there to have drinks before we went boating for my birthday. It is a lovely location but they decided to blast out really terrible music from the wedding that afternoon. We moved to the furthest point away from the music and I asked them to turn it down which they eventually did. The boy who was serving looked... More

We went to the Anchor Inn for lunch for my flatmate's birthday after which we took to the river in one of the pub's rowing boats. The pub was busy so it did take around 40 minutes to get our food but it was absolutely delicious when it arrived. The staff were charming and very apologetic about the delay, plus... More
