Had a great walk from barcombe to the anchor inn. The setting is amazing. Really disappointed that they weren't taking food orders as they had a huge back log. We ate them out of crisps and peanuts instead. Went to the rainbow inn which was really good. I would book if you are going there as those who booked were... More

Went last Sunday and thought that this food pub might be a pub that sold food. I was mistaken as apparently that had entirely run out of food. I sat outside and had a coffee and every single table was covered in dirty glasses and plates from that time in the distant past when they did have food. A really... More

This place seems to get 5 or 1 stars on other reviews. We read the reviews and hoped to get lucky - but on this occasion our toast landed jam side down... Turned up for a morning's boating, which was fine, and returned at noon and were second to order food. We sat close to the bar and waited...and waited....and... More

Had to send food back as was not even warm let alone hot! Agree with dan m... Overpriced considering it is re heated food and they couldn't even re heat it! Quite dangerous really not reheating meat until piping hot (even cold food for example, the ham looked like it had been sitting around for a while, fatty and warm)... More

Food is microwaved and over priced. Service terrible. Rooms average there are much nicer better value places to stay locally. Landlord is a prat and that's being pleasant. I will never return or do business with this man again. AVOID!

We had a lovely trip up the river with our sons aged 2 and 9,we ordered our food Which was served up in 15 minutes even though it was quite busy ! The whole day cost us under £40 Which we felt was very reasonable. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Simon, the landlord. We were just leavin the... More

Visited the anchor inn in barcombe last Sunday for a day of boating and lunch. We had high expectations after being told about the place by friends, but were a little concerned that we would have to wait for food and boats considering how busy it was. However we cannot fault the place after receiving our food in under half... More

Went for a day out at the Anchor Inn, sat by the river and had a drink. We then went to eat a picnic in a nearby field, which was labelled a car park. The signs for the car parks are displayed with 'no picnics' stated underneath. However the over flow car park doesn't state this, the over flow car... More

My husband, my parents, two children and grandson hired three boats at the cost of £90.00 and rowed up river and had a great time. We came back though and were loudly told off by the owner (in front of many customers) as the kids had swam back to the landing and were not in boat. He was very vocal... More
