We went there to have drinks before we went boating for my birthday. It is a lovely location but they decided to blast out really terrible music from the wedding that afternoon. We moved to the furthest point away from the music and I asked them to turn it down which they eventually did. The boy who was serving looked... More

We went to the Anchor Inn for lunch for my flatmate's birthday after which we took to the river in one of the pub's rowing boats. The pub was busy so it did take around 40 minutes to get our food but it was absolutely delicious when it arrived. The staff were charming and very apologetic about the delay, plus... More

This could (and should) be a lovely place to spend an afternoon. We paddled up and down the River Ouse (£30 for two hours) which was lovely, and then had some late lunch. Although not busy we were quoted and had to wait about 40 mins for our food and even then they had forgotten to put through our daughter's... More

I work within the pub trade and visit a lot of pubs (for work!). We had such a great afternoon, great food, friendly service, great boating and walks around the pub too. The owner came and spoke to us, which is always appreciated as I'd noticed him running around earlier. In all great pub, and thanks for making us and... More

Fifty minutes to get a beer ,food overpriced and sparse and that is being generous, toilets disgusting not usable. Do not waste your money or your time . Garden tables not cleared attracting wasps in their hundreds ,dirty plates everywhere! Will never visit again!

What a lovely setting the anchor is in!! A beautiful day and a fantastic place. we sat outside for a drink before we went boating! This isn't the anchors fault but there were so many wasps hassling all the customers calling all their mates over to jump in your drink and buzz round you :) Like i said it wasn't... More

^ As the title suggests - the boating was easy and fun to do, it was not a long drawn out process of sterilised do's and dont's (that being said it was very safe), and the lunch was awesome.. Simple as that. Enjoy : ]

I really don't like to write bad reviews and this is probably the 1st one I have ever done. I came here a year ago to rent the boats and have afternoon lunch by the river and I came here again yesterday. Not much has changed. The place is dirty, the toilets are full of dust and spider webs, exactly... More

Sunny Sunday afternoon, decided on The Anchor. Don't be put off with the narrow road and negotiating other vehicles, great food, lovely staff and great surroundings and they serve HARVEYS what could be better.

I called in advance to check opening times and was told that they started renting boats at 10am. We arrived at 10 30, and we rudely told that we had to "go away" for 20 minutes as they were not readying yet. We came back after a short walk, and waited out ladies by the boats until 11 20 for...
