My husband, my parents, two children and grandson hired three boats at the cost of £90.00 and rowed up river and had a great time. We came back though and were loudly told off by the owner (in front of many customers) as the kids had swam back to the landing and were not in boat. He was very vocal... More

Lovely home cooked food, attentive service, and a fantastic al fresco dining experience. Add rowing boats down a serene countryside river to the equation and you're onto a winner. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone, thumbs up Anchor Inn

We went to the anchor inn to hire a boat for an hour and have a lunch in the beer garden afterwards . We had a lovely experience , friendly staff , good food and hiring a boat was great fun. We will defiantly return again !

We passed by to fill up our water bottles on our way to do some wild camping in a near-by forest. The owners' son was happy for us to fill up on water despite the pub being closed. Then, we asked him if he knew of anywhere to camp and he let us stay in the field attached to the... More

What a fabulous afternoon. Wonderful Roast lunches, Hog roast cooking, a pianist on his piano playing and singing in the garden, families, couples, dog walkers and children all happy and smiling. Wonderful service, friendly staff, lovely landlord, stunning country side and a great place to mess about on the river. Thank you for making Fathers day so special.

Unfriendly, unreasonable, rude staff. Foul smelling garden, toilets and chalet. Dirty, over priced accommodation. Massively disappointing. Children not welcomed. Will never return despite the beautiful countryside.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch here in idyllic surroundings. The landlord and staff were charming, the views over the river and surrounding countryside unbeatable. We were entertained by people boating on the river and other local wildlife. We will definitely come again.

This is a lovely pub, right on the riverside, nice dining area with plenty of outside tables when the weather allows outside dining. The lane going to and from the pub is a bit tricky if you meet oncoming traffic as it is very narrow and passing places are few and far between but it is worth the trip down... More

Went with my two children age 2 and 3. We were very rudely told that we could not feed our children with our own food (snacks) and were not welcome to do so in the grounds as picnics not allowed. The "landlord will go mad" . We promptly left'. Terrible

Today we are at The Anchor Inn in Barcombe, a pub we have heard of but never visited. The setting is wonderful, right up against the river Ouse, and you can hire boat to take you up stream! The food is typical pub grub done well at reasonable prices with a decent selection of beers and a vast selection of... More
