Thanks to a last-minute cancellation we managed to get a reservation at Castle Banks for the August bank holiday weekend. Angela was a accommodating hostess from the off, graciously handling our accidental late arrival & making us feel welcome. Castle Banks offers the best, most central location of the Lewes B&Bs, in a quiet lane just behind the castle. And just around the corner from Lewes Arms and Elephant & Castle, two of the best pubs in town. The latter hosts a folk club every Saturday night. Stayed here for one night whilst walking the South Downs Way. Lovely hostess and charming cottage. The room was perfect with all the usual facilities [Non en suite] Very central in this interesting town. Wholesome breakfast! Would make a great base for a weekend break.
