We have eaten here twice since it reopened. The first time was a mid-week evening meal and although we enjoyed our meal, did not think that it was particularly good value for money. We have just revisited, again for a mid- week evening meal. I had the same starter as before, mozzarella, avacado and tomato salad. Last time it had... More

Went with a friend for lunch, we arrived at 12 midday on a Wednesday and said we would like a drink first and would order lunch at 1 pm. We were seated at a table and ordered drinks I plumped for cider of which they a several, two of which are local to the area, I had a south downs... More

Our first visit to The Roebuck since it re-opened under new management and it certainly won't be our last. We popped in for lunch whilst in the area and enjoyed a lovely meal. Very good selection of dishes on the menu backed up by an equally good wine list. The food was delicious and my wife was really impressed with... More

Now it's open, under new management, The Roebuck is certainly somewhere I will be dropping into for lunch or evening meal. I love the quirkiness, even the bright yellow exterior. I had a very tasty double lamb chop, with champ and dauphinoise potatoes. It was served with a lovely sauce, which I mopped up. The place has a good atmosphere.

Stayed two nights, weekend 7-8 August 2015. On Friday night, we were two bridesmaids and a bride to be on the eve of her wedding. We were very happy with the Roebuck's rooms and the friendly, caring greeting from the lovely Scottish chef/manager (?) whose name I've rudely forgotten. The bar staff/waitresses were also very very friendly and helpful. The... More

We had read about the Roebuck in the Lewes Viva magazine and having often eaten well at Dominic McCartan and Tony Leonard’s Snowdrop and way back at their Brighton pubs we knew we had to go so when our son had a day off during our holiday we suggested a visit. The place has been newly renovated in an eclectic... More

We went there for an evening meal after a walk, interested to see how it had been done up after having been closed for a long while. It is quite quirky inside with an interesting way of refurbishing and re-using items. The bar staff were polite and friendly, but a bit slow in serving us. The menu was extensive (17... More

Had a trip out to Laughton for with my parents on a weekday. The pub is quirky to say the least - bright yellow on the outside and a copper coloured bar inside with a few weird and wonderful fittings within. The menu is broad with things to suite most tastes. I went for the Sea Bream with crushed chive... More

Enjoyed this first-time visit en route to a NGS viewing up the road. Food was good. We had mushroom burger and tasty chips. Kids had sausages and homemade meaty burger. All plates cleaned up. The profiteroles were really good - homemade again with ice-cream hidden inside. We sat outside in a pleasant courtyard. Lots of beers on tap. Very friendly... More

good beer, good food, nice rooms if staying, deserves to do well. the dinner menu was very good and you can tell just by looking at it that the bacon and sausages for breakfast were quality. Looking forward to when they barbeque pinky and perky.
