How this hotel passed hygiene and fire checks god knows. I don't like posting bad reviews but I feel that others have to be warned about this public house / hotel. The bar room is thick with dust and the carpets are dirty. When looking for the toilet I walked past the open kitchen door. I was shocked by the... More

Having stayed in this hotel, I can say that this hotel it self is crying out for a makeover. I'm sure enough beers sell in the bar to buy new bed linen and replace the ghastly interiors. Nice approachable staff, but times have changed, and we are in a society that expects more bang for their buck

My god. When i think of English cuisine and service in the 1980s this place comes to the forefront. Basil Fawlty would laugh even at the crappy old interior, smelly carpets, hobo locals sleeping at the bar and damp old toilets that reminded me of scenes from the movie 'The Shining'. Luckily we didn't stay here, but as I had... More

I went to this pub as it look quant form the outside and there were not too many people in it. However, I would never go there again, largely because the toilets were so disgusting. No sign posts to get you there and maybe that's is a good idea. The steps on the way down to the toilets were full... More

Popped in for a drink whilst visiting Lewes as is such a great location and was less busy than other pubs. There is a reason for this. It's the most disgusting and filthy loo I have ever been in anywhere in the world. I can't believe it's allowed to operate you certainly wouldn't eat in there. Vile !

When looking online they show a wonderful set of rooms making people believe it is really deserving of it's name. Crown in a place for royalty. Wrong. On arrival the staff where friendly and showed me to my room. The room was small and decorated horribly with raised paint. Which would be fine however seems to be used as a... More

We were welcomed by friendly staff and shown to our room. The room and bathroom were very spacious, but sadly not clean, we had no towels (although after asking twice were given two.) The toilet made a dreadful noise which made us unhappy to use it for fear of disturbing other guests. Although we were later disturbed by someone else's... More

Made the mistake of going here for a drink. Stale beer, LOUD music (some with bad language) Tried to find the toilets but found the hotel time forgot. I think the last time the place was decorated was when someone put out a bit of bunting for VE night. We ran from the place!

Stayed here overnight recently and really disappointed. I'm not in the habit of leaving bad reviews but please don't waste your money staying here! The room was large as was the bathroom but the whole place smelt of greasy cooking and the decor and furnishings were grubby and cheap. At £80 this is not the cheapest hotel room that we... More
