The 3* rating might be a bit harsh, would have given it 7 out of 10 on a different scale. Nothing is fundamentally wrong with this hotel. The location is good for the 'new' town, sea front and rail station with all staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and our request for a top floor room was... More

We stayed here over the Jubilee weekend for 3 nights. We had a double (room 11) and a single (28). The double was recently refurbished and very tastefully done, well equipt with LCD TV and fridge. Sea View and balcony were a great benefit. The single was not so great, in need of some refurb, issues with the heat of... More

Had a fab stay at the Lansdowne this weekend. We had the deluxe double with sea view. From check in to check out the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was great, spacious, with good shower and very comfortable bed. The breakfast staff were also very friendly and the breakfast had a good choice of cold or cooked... More

If you do stay at this hotel do not stay in Room 2. The bathroom is the width of its door with a wash-basin which you squeeze past to a toilet set at an angle and beyond a shower which the light barely reaches with the curtain closed. The shower head flew off under the pressure of water on my... More

Where to start, upon arrival we were made very welcome by our hosts, and our luggage was carried up to our room for us,and the golf clubs were stored in a safe location down stairs, we did know well in advance of the ongoing renovations as we had booked our stay online and the owners were very forth coming about this, we... Thankyou to you and the rest of the staff for a very comfortable couple of nights at "The Lansdowne", it's great to see that the hotel is now in the hands of people able to see it's potential. I guess it's still early days and that there is more to be done but room 16 was better than I expected,... More

The hotel looks reasonable imposing from the outside, althouhg the entrance does need modernising. the owner explained that this will be happening over the next year. The room was spacious and very clean. The facilites were also good, arm chairs to sit in, large screen digital televsion, quiet working fridge in room. the staff were freindly.

Having read previous reviews on this hotel, we were a little sceptical, however the promise of a sea view room was enough to persuade us it give it a try. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman. He spent quite some time with us explaining the best local attractions and advising us of the best places to... More
