The room was small but clean and smartly decorated, and the bed comfortable. The hotel is in a good location near the seafront, but it was perfectly quiet in my room at night. I didn't use the shower, TV or radio/CD player so I can't comment on those. Only two minor complaints about the room: tea/coffee-making facilities were provided but... more

I stayed in the Alvia Hotel for a few days and was quite disappointed given the reviews I'd read and the claims made on the hotel's website... I stayed in room 2 - a twin room on the first floor. Check-in was quick and efficient - breakfast times were explained although it wasn't explained that we had to keep the... more

We had a very warm welcome and were treated very nice during our stay. As it was calm in the hotel we got a free upgrade to a room which was £ 20 a night more expensive then what we payed. The room was decorated very nice but not so big. Which could make it difficult to stay in for... more

Stayed for 2 nights and found the location ideal for forays into Brighton. Our room, a superior, No. 4 had ample space for a short stay. Comfortable bed, very nice furnishings (the chandelier could do with a dusting) clean shower and WC room. Excellent breakfast and very friendly people. Off street parking a very big bonus. This is a great little hotel close to the sea front in Brighton. My boyfriend and i stayed over Valentine's weekend - the perfect location from which to explore the delights of this seaside town. The room we stayed in was realtively small but beautifully decorated and fine for a weekend away. Breakfast was excellent. The owners were very friendly... more

The Alvia Hotel is a really lovely, small, boutique hotel, with a nice, friendly atmosphere. The hotel is in a great location; just a few minutes walk from the pier and the The Lanes, and very easy to find by car. We had the room with the four-poster bed, which was nicely decorated, and situated at the front of the... more

Its TERRIBLE. Overpriced, not too clean (they don’t Hoover the rooms… or clean much at all if you’re there for a few nights) and the WORST pillows ever. Bad TV reception, bad landlady, bad Wi-Fi and could not believe it when the towels that I had left on the floor to be changed where just hung over the radiator to... more

I stayed at the Alvia for Friday & Saturday night in August whilst in Brighton for a bridge tournament, so just needed a single room to get my head down, nothing too special. I was impressed by the hotel's website, which indicated it was well above average for the type of accommodation offered and, at £48/night for a single room,... more

My friend and I were visiting friends in Brighton, and needed an Hotel close to the centre of Brighton. We had not stayed at the Alvia Hotel before - and we will not stay there again. Our 'Boutique style' room was sooo small my friend and I were always in each other's way. The TV did not work. We did... more
