We booked the Amherst after struggling to find somewhere that would allow us to stay for just one night. I also read the reviews on Trip Advisor and was quite impressed. We arrived just after 2pm, at first we drove straight past but then turned the car round and saw it. Amherst Hotel has a very discreet sign above the... more

My partner & I recently stayed for a long weekend break. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the staff cannot do enough! It's immaculately clean & you feel really looked after. Nothing is too much trouble. The hotel location is great - in walking distance from everywhere. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Brighton. I would definitely stay there again! more

After much deliberation I booked a “Junior Suite” at the Amherst for 2 nights in March as a Birthday treat for my Husband. This was mainly thanks to the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, without which I would probably not have found out about this Gem of a hotel. First things first… the Junior Suite is really just a large... more

We stayed for a weekend in April, having managed to get the mother-in-law to babysit the kids. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough for you. The room was clean, tidy and a great place to chill out before we went out. Then relax after a good night out. Breakfast was great, all freshly cooked and... more

Tripadvisor came up trumps when we booked at the Amherst. What a great little hotel! We read all of the reviews and decided on our budget to book this hotel. The reviews were all good and we were not disappointed. The rooms, the breakfast and the staff were impeccable. I can't add to the positive comments made about this establishment.... more

May I first just say a big thanks to trip-advisor without which we wouldn't have discovered this amazing guest house. Not only is the loacation fantastic (2 mins from beach) but the staff waited on us hand and foot from the moment we arrived. When we were allocated the wrong room we were ugraded to the best room in the... more

We looked forward to a special place after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor (which previously has been so spot on). The hotel was clean and the staff friendly but we thought the rooms were overpriced for what they were. Also having to decide what time we wanted breakfast the next day and what we wanted to eat the moment we... more

After an unpleasant stay at another hotel in Brighton, I vowed to enter the Amherst with no expectations, despite having read so many positive reviews. When I meet new people, I usually know within the first few minutes whether or not we will get along well. Well, with the Amherst Hotel I knew as soon as I crossed the doorstop... more

Came to the Amherst for a girly weekend away and discovered a gem! Although rooms are small, they make up for it with luxuriously warm and comfortable Egyptian cotton Duvet covered beds - Molton Brown toiletries in the shower, DVDs and flat screen tvs in your room and lots of personal touches. My room had a really funky light shade... more

Needed somewhere smart for a one night stay in Brighton and checked out the tripadvisor site as first port of call. The Amherst seemed to fit perfectly and we were not disappointed. From the outset the service was first-class, from taking our booking through to the detailed explanation when we arrived as to how everything worked, the whole show was... more
