I'm compelled to write my first review, even having promised myself that I would only use TripAdvisor as a source of information rather than a ranting ground, but this really was the pits. Agree with other reviews that it is one of the cheaper, if not the cheapest place I could find to stay in Brighton on a Friday night.... More

I found the hostel via hostelbookers as we were struggling to keep the cost of our last minute stag party to a minimum. Most hotels/hostels in Brighton require a 2 night minimum stay, whereas this hostel allows 1 night stays and welcome stag/hen parties. I phone the hostel direct and the owner contacted me via e-mail with bank transfer details.... More

If you book this hotel, remember the saying "you get what you pay for." It will not be to everyone's taste - it is cheaper than a Premier Inn or Travelodge (in Brighton/Hove area) and it shows. My first impressions were very negative - the place looks in poor condition from the outside, even if the reception area is very... More

Basic no thrills hostel, staff were always at hand and willing to help. Breakfast consisted of toast and cereal. Rooms were tidy and clean, but as you would expect from a hostel of this price it was no thrills

I stayed at the Smart Sea View Hotel for 3 weeks whilst I was working in Brighton. I stayed in both of their single rooms which they have available over that period. I found the rooms to be freshly decorated with newly installed showers and very good accommodation for the price I paid. The rooms were cleaned and beds made... More

Right, okay, I know you get what you pay for BUT .... I was looking to book a cheap and chearful B and B for a couple of nights in Brighton so I could visit a friend. Money is quite tight at the moment and with fuel costs, parking, and food whilst in Brighton that meant the accomodation had to... More

Myself and my partner used this place as just a cheap place to sleep while spending the weekend in Brighton. To summarise, you get what you paid for... and it was a bit concerning when we turned up and there appeared to be a bouncer guarding the front door! PROS: 1) PRICE - It was cheap(er than most places in... More

I can't believe that the Health Authority in Brighton has kept this hotel open till now !! I booked a room for one night, when I checked in there was a STINK ( I suspect there was a leak from the toilet above). The receptionist admitted that there was a bad smell in the room but FOR HIM it would... More

Typical hostel low frills place. Cheap cheerful small bunk beds no curtains meaning as soon as its light your wide awake. Be aware of the hidden charges also £10 deposit per room key and an extra charge if you go over checkout time. Still for £18 a night its what you expect.

The beds & facilities are acceptable. Breakfast can be ok. Longer term residents tend to behave in a disgusting manner. It can be one of the best hostels offering dorms in the South. There is a £10 key deposit & no free luggage store -what can be annoying early in the morning. There is a vary of shops & stores... More
