When looking for a lads trip away from surburbia, Brighton seemed an ideal venture. The prices of a student town, combined with a pebble beach (i despise sand!), and an atmosphere which is hardly replicated anywhere else in Britain. We were working on a budget as a bunch of students, and the Palace Hotel, catered for our needs perfectly. It's right next to the bus station....when i say bus station i mean 4 parking spaces for buses, which connect directly with National Express Routes. The hotel is also only a 5 - 10 minute walk. Perfect location within Brighton, Brighton Pier is only 2 minutes to the left of the hotel entrance, and the other pier a short 5 minute stroll. The room was unbearably hot, therefore we had to keep the one window that worked, open all night. There was no way of controlling the radiators. Their dedicated website paints a fairly different picture to what we experienced. When we went down to a enjoy a suposedly "Continental" breakfast the next morning, we were quite taken aback. Breakfast was in the bar, where everybody was smoking, which was foul. There was a couple of cereals to choose from with a jug of milk, a big open coffee tin and a couple of urns of hot water. On the... more
