Stayed with a mate on Sat nite last bank hol w/e. The location is great as it's tucked away in a side street 2 mins from the seafront but it feels like a world away from the noisy and tacky pier scenery. The room was neat and clean and the reception/bar/breakfast area is small but coolly furnished. Staff was very... more

Beautiful Brighton Boutique! I had the pleasure of staying in this boutique the other night and felt I had to write a review! What a refreshing change! Lovely, friendly, quirky stay. Very close to the sea and a short walk to the lanes, the positioning is grand. Some interesting local characters but all friendly and good natured enough! I was... more

The wonderful Clare at the Oriental made our overnight trip to Brighton truly relaxed and easy. We cannot have made the most attractive of punters (Dad and two teenage kids wanting three seperate beds in a boutique room and wanting to haggle over the price) - but we were made to feel absolutely welcome, and Clare went out of her... more

This is a small narrow bed and breakfast on a street off the promenade by the burnt out pier. The rest of the street looks a bit dodgy, with a hostel for bag backers, and lots of shady characters sat on steps outside neglected bedsits. Parking is a complete nightmare - if you can get a pay and display it... more

We came down to Brighton for a friend's wedding, and stayed for a Friday and Saturday night in room 8, a luxury double room which has the added bonus of a sofa - my particular bugbear in hotels is nowhere to sit and relax other than lying on the bed. The room is chic and modern, and a good size... more

warm welcome from the start including telephoning me shortly after I placed my booking with laterooms, they asked if I had any special dietary or mobility requirement (I didn’t) or if they could help me with anything else such as recommending a secure place to park my car. I stayed in the Single (small) room which had a very nice... more

We've stayed in many of Brighton's small hotels over the past 20 years. There are many commonalities; Regency architecture, quirky updating, obstacle-ridden staircases, odd plumbing, etc. We were quite pleasantly surprised by the Oriental, particularly after reading some of the (less complimentary) reviews on this website. We had a very pleasant week's stay in Room 6, which is on the... more

The place in done up well. The bar area looks very nice. The hotel is simple and has a homley feel to it.......Overall the stay was enjoyable and satisfying. What makes me recommend the place - I left a t-shirt at the hotel and they were kind enough to post it to me without calling to get the address....Was a... more

The hotel is one month out of a refurb. All quite trendy bo-ho colours etc but rather more style than substance. Too many corners have been cut to try to get "the look" & already lamp shades are broken & fall off if you touch them & blown halogens are not replaced. We never worked out how to switch the... more

I originally booked 2 nights at The Oriental for my partner's birthday having read the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were given a very friendly welcome and taken to our Superior room. Our first impression was that the interior of the hotel was very quirky and immaculate. The Superior room was a nice size with a memory foam matress, leather... more
