The hotel is ideally positioned for the lanes, the seafront and the town centre, but parking was pricey at £8 per day. The staff in the hotel were very welcoming and friendly, but the hotel itself was in need of a major renovation. We stayed in a seaview room, which was big, but the bed was two single beds pushed... Was good to find somewhere that didn't require 3 night stay on a bank holiday in August. The place did us fine and there were no problems during our stay but was expensive...However, just rang to book up for short stay (1 night) during Easter bank holiday. They refused to do less than 3 nights and were very blunt on... More

I booked a single room here for my mother to stay in when she visited for her 60th birthday. The room was TINY - the bed got in the way of the opening and closing the bathroom door. The room had not been properly aired and stank of cigarrette smoke from the previous guest. On the second night a row... More

The Dove Hotel is completely substandard. Having stayed here during the peak season when it might be expected that a hotel would be at its highest level of readiness to serve and impress its customers, I found it to be completely substandard. From the lack of simple in room amenities such as drinking glasses, to plumbing problems, right on up... More

I booked over the phone a double standard room and they told me it was very nice and similar to the photo on the web site but smaller. When I got there they showed me to this little tiny room where there wasn't even a double bed, it was 2 very old and falling to pieces single beds put together,... More

Told about this by a friend who stays there on a regular basis. I have a warm welcome by what one can only assume a happy chirpy fello who was full of information an summoned his helpers to take my bags to the CLEAN room with SEAVIEWS, yes sideways, however it is a westerly aspect property!! Would go again and... More

The room, though clean, stank of the Marlboro being smoked constantly by the staff in the basement. There were cracked tiles and lifting cork floor tiles in the bathroom. The hotel was noisey and the breakfast, served in a claustrophobic basement room, tiny. So then, a £30 a night B&B at a £90 per night hotel price. You really can... More

As an avid 'How Clean is Your House?' fan, I was concerned that I may be letting myself in for a Kim and Aggie nightmare after reading some of the reviews here, but I was pleasantly surprised! Bank Holiday weekend, for one night (one of few hotels which don't have the 3-night minimum stay policy), single room - cost £35,... More

I booked this hotel over the phone and was told it was "just like the room on the website and a lovely room". I soon found out why it was the only hotel with rooms available only a week in advance. When they showed me to my room, I thought I had stumbled upon the closet, it barely fitted a... More

It's a fairly hit and miss affair finding a B&B in Brighton that doesn't require a minimum two night stay at weekends. I plumped for the Dove. It's clean and comfortable but the breakfast was....sparse to say the least. Half a tomato, one fried egg (small), one rasher of streaky bacon (I kid you not), two mushrooms (tinned) and a... More
