I don't have the greatest hostelling experience in the world, but this is the worst I've stayed in. An appallingly small room for 18 people with triple-deck beds with a fairly low ceiling so that the person on the middle has to vault in, broken privacy curtains on some beds, mattresses that barely merit the name. Windows that don't properly... More

I'll start off with the positive - the location of the hostel is great. That is where the positives end. The room smelt like no fresh air or sunlight had passed through it in years, a mixture of damp and sweat. The light in the room was ridiculous you can barely see a thing, it's like entering a cave. The... More

I've never stayed in such an awful hostel- and I've stayed in a fair few. I wasn't expecting luxury with the price we paid but I wouldn't stay here again if someone paid me! The entire place was filthy dirty. The showers were mouldy and the drains were blocked so that the water rose above your ankles and you ended... More

Journeys is situated in a brilliant location, walking distance to all of the great attractions of Brighton and with all you need in the way of food & shops nearby. The bunks were okay, though not great in the way of head room if you're tall. Reception were friendly and helpful and did a great job of making me feel... More

Having travelled extensively in my 25 years I have stayed in quite a few hostels. Never as aweful as this one. Average rooms and location are acceptable in a cheap hostel but my god I couldn't have asked for worse in service and cleanliness. Bathroom was appalling. Floor was drenched in water from the showers and the ceilings were covered... More

I have stayed in many hostels before, but this was an absolute dive. Very unclean, toilets often unusable. Showers very mouldy - it took persuasion to even get into them. Breakfast was incredibly simple, but I wouldn't expect much different for the price. Overall experience would have been acceptable had they paid ME the value of the room to stay.... More

This was my first experience of staying in a hostel, and it will certainly be my last. Reception is very good, booking in was easy and we went off to our room. The room was on the very top floor up many staircases. At the top of the stairs we discovered that the bathrooms on our floor were out of... More

I had stayed at this hostel previous but never thought I would write or mention anything about the staff. Undoubtedly they are the best I have come across during my travels. The hostel itself needs a bit of work specially the showers, but apart from that I cannot fault the location and the excellent service I received from the staff.

My cousin and I stayed in this hostel for two nights and whilst Brighton was great, this hostel was dreadful. We didn't have high expectations of the hostel but when we arrived it was far worse than we had anticipated. The toilets smelt and were dirty, to the extent where we chose to use public toilets instead of using them... More
