We stayed at the Imperial for a long weekend by the coast. We booked our room via Expedia, so didn't have any choice in the room we were allocated - the room itself was OK, but fairly small and rather average (considering we could have paid the same for a last-minute room at the Grand). We were up in the... More

My single room was just that - almost a cell. I didn't mind the scaffolding, but would have appreciated reception telling me there would be men outside my window when I was changing out of sopping wet clothes (thunderstorm!) on arrival. The accommodation was on the mean side - tiny tea provision, no soap or toiletries, very small towel, flat... More

Stayed at the Imperial for one night this week. Good location, close to the seafront but quieter than the Brighton end of the city. The room was spacious and bed ( four poster!)comfortable, clean with a good-sized bathroom and all the basics you would expect. Reception staff are polite and efficient. Parking is easy and free from 6pm to 9am... More

Booked this room a very short notice. The room was a little dated and tired but half the price of the Princes Marine where we usually stay. It was ok for the one night and parking just outside was £5:00 for 12 hours. Its about a 20 minute walk to Brighton. Would I stay again ....... for one night definitely... More

Stayed here for two nights and as it has been said before lots of scaffolding. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is average. But it seems as if a final Judgement will have to wait for the renovation work to be completed. It has Potential of being a nice hotel. But for this years summer holiday makers... More

We appreciate this no nonsense review, more so as a regular Trip Advisor contributor. We would certainly agree with your sentiments that the Imperial will be a new girl once the works are finished with something of a spring in her step as a result Happily, the works to the front elevation and progressing well and we should be able... I needed the use of a lift as have problems with stairs and although there was a lift I still had to cope with several stairs to get to my room. There was no help from staff with my baggage either. I must admit I didn't ask for help. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the place... More

We appreciated your visiting from Australia and thank you for your balanced remarks. As a Victorian building, the Imperial has her special ways and inevitably the floors are not uniformly even and there are some small flights of stairs which we cannot accommodate with the lift. Even so I am truly disheartened to hear that you struggled with your bags... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Imperial in Brighton in July 2014. The price seemed good as well as the location however after coming back to our room in the evening and spending the night my opinion was changed. The bathroom was dirty and it was clear that the cleaners had done the minimum. The toilet and bath were... More

Hotel is located in a quiet area very close to the seafront. Was upgraded to superior room without having to pay extra. Room was really spacious with a great four poster bed, quiet and comfortable. Huge bathroom with a fantastic bath tub with massage functions, great breakfast, very nice waiters. Would stay there again any time!

I was in this hotel with a group of people when at 8:00 AM I started to hear hammering on the outside, the facade. Later I went to talk to the manager to comment that I wanted to make a complaint about it and took me to another room for fear that other people listen to me. I put the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Imperial Hotel in Brighton & Hove mixes tradition and function with a light, fresh airiness. Its ideal position – at the end of the broadest of avenues – with its uncluttered outlook by the sea, is situated alongside Hove Promenade and The Lawns. This functional, exceptionally good value hotel is of the Regency period; its high ceilings and spacious bar and lounge are noticeable, as is its still, calm ambiance. The Imperial provides an excellent level of customer service and its conference facilities, coupled with a smart bar and an attractive restaurant, make it an equally popular venue for a variety of functions. Ample Parking is available on the street and surrounding areas using our low cost residential permit scheme at just £6.00 per day. We also offer spaces on a 'first come first served basis' on our hard standing area at £15 per day. The Imperial Hotel is the perfect choice whether you are visiting for pleasure or business! ... more   less
