I stayed here with my wife last year and it was cheap but very passable and good value. Last week my wife stayed there again. Advantages were the price, location and car parking. My wife stayed there for three nights and did not have a warm let alone hot bath once. She asked for this to be rectified and was... More

A massive plus for this hotel is the free parking-in Brighton this is worth between £5 and £15 a day so can easily off set the minuses! From the car park the view of a partly demolished building and a partly built building is not a great inspiration but inside its not that bad. My first two nights I was... More

Location-wise, a good option on a grand street that links the cricket ground/station part of Hove with the seafront and near to lots of good places for coffee and food. That said, the old, albeit characterful building has its pitfalls - I was stationed in a room on the fifth floor which is, bizarrely, actually located in the basement -... More

Thank you for such a erudite review and highlighting the characterful nature of Courtlands which is perfectly placed for all that Hove has to offer As the hotel has evolved over so many good years so has the layout, with the '500s' located on the ground floor which suits some guests. Happily there is plenty of choice so hopefully we... More

We arrived for one night stay some hours before check in so dropped off bags and parked up (bonus that there is an onsite car park) Hotel is ideally situated very close to the beach and shops and took us around 30-45 min walk to Brighton pier but at a leisurely pace. On return couple of problems.some confusion with our... More

Smashing review thank you. Nik and his team were really pleased they could play a part in your travel plans and also help out with the little one. I stayed at this small hotel / guest house . The reception staff so miserable and it looked like they didn't want to work there A smile costs nothing . We didn't have a friendly warm welcome . I was worried about the hotel as the red hallway carpet thru out the hotel had seen better days , the carpet... More

This is rather a bizarre review for the Courtlands is not located in a side street but sits contentedly along The Drive, Hove's premier thoroughfare The remarks about our loyal and hard working reception team have also made us aghast and naturally we were sorry to read them More positive was the fact that the suite this family were in... Miserable receptionist, rude manager with absolutely no idea of customer service. Booked through booking.com and was told room was £120 with an extra bed for child no extra cost. On arival was charged extra £30 for extra bed. Manager didn't believe me and made me look a liar in front of staff and guests and continued to argue with me.... More

Unfortunately we have no idea what this review is about as our partner websites are really clear about what is possible in terms of extra beds/cots and the cost. We welcome our family guests but are obliged to make a small charge for special requests Reading between the lines here, this guest ultimately acknowledged there would be a charge but... More

We were not expecting much of a last minute booking, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The parking was extremely useful and cheap for Brighton. We found the staff very pleasant and welcoming. Our room had obviously been newly refurbished and was large and light with a wonderful bay window onto the street. The bathroom was also huge with a... More

Thank you for visiting us from Cambridge and for this excellent review. As a Victorian building of some standing the hotel has its special ways but nevertheless retains, we hope, a certain charm We are delighted you would stay again and hopefully your plans will allow this to happen before very long. Renewed thanks meanwhile for your kind words and... More

After booking this hotel, we had a contradictory and confusing email exchange about parking. This continued when we checked in. As we checked in there as a row underway in reception between a client and a manager; no idea what about, but didn't enhance the impression. The hotel is pretty 'tired' looking, although the room was adequate and acceptably clean.... More

We thank you for this critique and as a Top TripAdvisor contributor we were sorry you felt a little deflated on arrival. Overall however your stay seemed to have hit the right notes while at the same time not winning you over completely. This is disheartening as we strive to offer our gusts something different Renewed thanks for your custom More

Our room was clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable with clean linen and the onsite parking was very helpful. This large building is in need of renovation, the decor is tired and I could list a number of things that needed improving in our room but the price was fair for what we received and ideal for 4 friends...
