As ever, Tripadvisor allows you to rate a hotel average or very good with nothing in between. This is in between, i.e. good rather than very good. Situated on the seafront with good views of the sea, and a short taxi ride rather than a walk from the station. Inside, it can seem at first a bit of a rabbit... More

As we weren't able to stay at our usual spot in Brighton this year we branched out with a seaview for a change. The mercure is a grand building & well situated on the seafront within easy walking distance of Hove as well as the top spots in brighton itself. Our room was to the rear of the hotel in... More

The room was nice, it could have benefited from air conditioning but as its a grade 2 listed building apparently it cant happen. I wasnt too impressed with having to pay £25 per night to park there, other places that I had stayed at on this holiday offered either free parking for residents or a £1 parking voucher to park... Second time I have stayed here but this time I was not impressed. Light in bathroom flickered like a strobe and shower broke on the first morning. These were attended to immediately but to be honest, room was very tatty and in a real need of a refit. Room had patio door onto outside but other guests smoking and shouting... More

Just returned from a one night stay at this hotel. We were upgraded (for free) to a sea-facing room, and the room was a very good size with a lovely view and beautiful decor. The bed was huge! The bathroom decor was a little tired but very clean. We opted to pay for breakfast and I am glad we did... More

We stayed one night and we were very disappointed by so many things. The room was very stuffy and you couldn't open (or close the window above a few inches) The windows were really filthy and overlooked the back of the hotel. The room was badly maintained and not thoroughly cleaned. (This was old dirt not just recent neglect). Even... More

A friend and I stayed in early August and Room 268 was really warm (although apparently cooler than many of the rooms), but I'd visit again at another time of year. The hotel has some lovely old features it could make more of rather than just being another chain hotel - peaks into the ballroom looked amazing, it would be... More

4gypsy, We thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. The hotel due to being a Grade Two Listed building is limited in terms of air conditioning that can be fitted in the building; to assist with this we have fans placed in the bedrooms to assist with the cooling down process. The hotel is kept... More

This weekend trip was booked for us as a gift and felt like anything but I am sad to say. Decor not up to standard of a four star hotel and felt shabby. Also we were charged £25 to park overnight whereas when we stayed at another 4 star hotel nearby parking was free! Staff were all very nice though.... More

Linda R, The team and I thank you for your feedback. I would like to apologise that you felt that the hotel did not meet your expectations and for any inconvenience that this may have caused to yourself. The hotel, in line with its pricing policy, does charge for car parking and this is at a rate of £25.00 per... More

Just checking out of this hotel this morning, we stayed in room 256 at the back of the hotel. I have stayed here many many times as I used to get discounted rates when the hotel belonged to Ramada Jarvis. Was quite shocked at how run down and dirty this hotel has become, since we were last here 5 years... More
