If you can get by some of the hotels quirks and annoyances your stay will be fantastic – this is not a hotel for people who have a stiff upper lip and a bit of a toffeenose - in her day she must've been something but the amount of money it would cost to get this hotel a complete facelift... More

After paying almost £400 for a weekend 2- night stay in May 2014, we were very disappointed! Upon arrival the lift was out of order and we had to lug our bags up to the fourth floor. Reaching our room and before opening, the wind was howling through the gaps of the door making us need to forcefully push open... More

After staying here, it's unfortunately an experience we would rather forget. On arrival the reception staff seemed uninterested from the off and non informative of what the hotel had to offer. We were allocated a room on the top floor with no working television and that had a musty old smell throughout. The bathroom was old and looked in need... More

Okay, no parking or WiFi in rooms but Victorian elegance and character at it's best. Fab position, tasty breakfast - lovely! The shops and restaurants are very close, as are shops - trad and individual. Go for The Lanes overnight parking - all CCTV, 6pm to 11am £9.50.

I Booked 2 nights over the B/H , my wife and I were looking forward to a lovely w/e. We knew it was a dated Hotel but really it was a shock to find the reception service was appalling and EVERYTHING needs renovating/replacing. The enormous chandelier in reception was so dirty/rusty looking, the stairs had at least 2 steps I... More

Well we arrived & really didn't know what to expect after reading the reviews on here! Yes the exterior was a little storm damaged but inside reception was fine as were the staff, although maybe more needed at busy times. Our room wasn't the largest but it was very clean as was the bathroom, with a fast flowing hot shower.... More

This place should come with a public health warning. Greeted to our room by a de humidifier obviously drying out a filthy carpet which had been cleaned with dettol. Bad interpersonal skills displayed by badly trained staff. Couldn't leave as we had to pay on check in. THIS DIVE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED ASAP

Worst hotel in Brittain. Not cheap and falling apart! Believe me don't stay here!!!!!! It's worse than a squat house!!!! The rooms are falling apart. Our bed was 30years old, wallpaper falling off, filthy carpets, and a bathroom that was just filth! Don't stay here, I can't put into words how bad this place is.
