Let's get THE positive out of the way - the location is amazing - directly opposite the pier and ideal for Kemptown. Negatives sadly outweigh this though. Reception - arrive at around 8pm to find a small queue (to be expected) however waiting nearly 15mins to be checked in by the only member of staff I received no apology for... More

If you stay here, make sure you are not given a room with the heating/air con motor running outside your bedroom window. Take care when booking, maybe it was my fault but I had only booked a room and found I had to pay for breakfast

Another great weekend at royal Albion hotel. Yes it needs a major refurb but it's clean in a great location and lovely staff. Only problem we had was heat in room, but this time of year you expect heating to be turned on in hotel, a fan was immediately bought up to room on request which made stay more comfortable.... More

This will be the third time we've stayed at the Royal Albion and have had a great time. It's a beautiful listed building in a great location with many of its original features. Yes the building does need some tlc but this grand old lady is about to undergo a refurbishment. The rooms are comfortable quiet and spotlessly clean. Yes... More

Enjoyed our stay at the Royal Albion Brighton last weekend. Location is on promenade opposite the Pier and next door to the National Express coach station, with buses to Gatwick Airport & London. OK the hotel is 190 years old and renovations are ongoing but I found it to be a comfortable hotel and the staff to be helpful and... More

The staff are attentive to your needs, this will be our 2nd stay and we have always been welcomed with warm smiles. whilst the rooms are really worn out, old furniture and old looking rooms. They still smell nice and look really clean i... More

Cheap and friendly. Loved the fact that the hotel was also dog friendly and accommodated a cot in one room. The beach was right nearby and it was in a fantastic location for the lanes. Had a quiet nights sleep despite the fact that the room was road facing. Decor was a bit dated but comfy beds and suited what... More

Of course the place is a bit run down but it was clean and comfortable enough. I got a sea view room with whirlpool bath for no extra charge. Great location for a bargain price. No car park, though you can park in the Lanes car park on Black Lion Street from 16:00 to 10:00 for 10 pounds. No wifi... More
