We have just had an amazing weekend in Brighton and we stayed at this hotel. We only wanted a crash pad for the night and wasn't expecting much after the reviews. BUT, what a lovely friendly little place. The room was lovely, yes a little dated, but quaint, comfortable and clean. Staff fell over themselves to be friendly and helpful... More

We stayed at Ainsley House last night and were very happy. We had excellent communication with the owners before we arrived, a lovely greeting on the day and we were even invited to join a birthday party that was going on in the dining room! Great hosts, clean and comfortable room, we would definitely stay again. Thanks guys!

We read reviews of this hotel - which we'd booked because it had vacancies during the Festival period when everywhere was filling up fast - after booking, and many were negative, so it was a relief to find things were better than expected. I've no idea why some people found the landlady anything but great fun and very helpful. Our... More

One night was all I could have coped with. A very rude and defensive land lady. The place smells and was unclean and old, sad furnishings and carpets. Didn't have the breakfast as was worried I might get food poisoning. Would have gone elsewhere If I could. I just drank a lot in order to sleep on the very cheap... More

I booked this hotel before reading the reviews, which after reading I was expecting the worst. On arriving I was greeted by a very friendly lady and given room keys and information on breakfast etc. My room was room 11, to which I was more than pleased with. The view was perfect, the room was clean and fresh, shower room... More

We stayed here for the weekend.there was a group of 7 of us, so we booked a double, 2 twins and a single. The single room had a double bed in as well and my friend was told not to touch it,sir on it or sleep in it!!! One of the twins had a leaking loo that stank! The double room... More

Stayed here for two nights, the room was a decent size for a twin- room but old and worn out furniture, everywhere was dusty and dirty, curtains were shabby and I,m glad I brought my own tea and coffee sachets as I think the ones in the room may have been there since the place opened. We had a fridge... More

Let’s start with the positives: Location is spot on, 2 mins walk to the pier. Negatives: First impression: Less than welcoming greeting (hadn't printed my booking - shock horror). General décor seemingly 30 years dated, but not in a favourable nostalgic type manner. Room (ten): a pungent aroma greeted us, a charming combination of toilet and old people type odours... More

God help me for i must have sinned to deserve a stay in this place! My clean and comfortable single room turned out to be a small toilet with a bed shoved in it. There is an awful smell of vanilla toilet spray which i suppose is meant to hide the odour of dampness and toilet smells emanating from the... More

I phoned up (before readin reviews) as my boyfriend and I wanted a room for one night in Brighton. A Carribbean lady answered and put me on hold for ten mins till another lady was free. She advised me it was £90 for the night. When I asked if she wanted payment before we arrived or after she began to... More
