We booked The Royal York Hotel Brighton for our 2008 staff Christmas Party with disastrous results.

Waiting up to 50 minutes for breakfast, when it did arrive it was very poor in quality and the wrong order. Staff were kids, untrained and unable to cope with more than a handful of guests – dropping food as they went and not clearing away dirty plates.

Rooms were either too hot or freezing cold with no clear way to adjust the temperature, several of the rooms either had no hot water at all (all weekend) or only lukewarm, when reception was informed they said this was ‘probably because everyone was showering at the same time’(!) – The rooms were ALL very noisy, either from the street below, noisy occupants in the adjacent rooms or from the... more
