We have been staying here for nearly four years ever since our daughter started at University of Sussex. This time we were staying to go to her graduation and we feel it is now a home from home. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff are really friendly. We had an evening meal this time as well as... More

We called in here on our way to Brighton Races. We had the most delightful smoked salmon salad with home made honey and mustard dressing with a dash of white wine vinegar. Washed don by a fresh pot of Earl Grey tea. We enjoyed the whole thing so much I popped into the kitchen to get the dressing recipe from... More

Lovely spacious room, clean and bright with a beautiful view of downs and sea. Excellent food, particularly local fresh fish and Harvey's bitter. Nice breakfast. Slight delay on check-in , but we arrived as bar was filling up and 1st rounds being ordered. Good location for Brighton by bus [leave car in CP if you want to drink in town]... More

The Room - I'd booked a single en-suite room at £45 a night. The room was no bigger than the box room in my apartment. sink and shower in the main room beside the bed, toilet behind a closed door (glad it wasn't all open plan). - first impressions were not great. The bedsheets and pillow cases were white which... More

Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Clean rooms. Fantastic food. Bus stop just outside for easy travelling to Brighton and lovely walks. The only negative points are that it was very noisy due to being on a main road and the bathroom could have been cleaner.

I was staying in Brighton for two nights for work and I chose this hotel as it close to the office. I have to admit I was a little concerned by all of the bad reviews on here after booking, but the fact that it was convenient over-ruled these. I wasn't sure what to expect but I thought as it... We thought this hotel offers a great location, it's a ten minute bus ride away from the beach and town centre, offers free parking and a free breakfast included within the prices of the room. The location is on the main road, however... it wasn't too noisy and the views were stunning! You can see a lot of country side... More

After three days of getting lost in the English countryside and a track day, 20 of us descended on The Downs Hotel. The buffet was the best we had out of all the hotels and service was excellent and friendly. Juke box turned off at 11.20, so an undisturbed sleep. Rooms good and clean. The sausage in the English breakfast... More

The staff gave me the wrong key and were rude. We decided to check out and go to a different hotel. He had already taken the payment, so refused cancelation. Nightmare. Oh and the pub doors to the toilets were really loud until after midnight!

Hotel was easy to find and had lots of free parking - a real bonus in Brighton! My single room was accessed from the side of the pub - as a lone female I was a little apprehensive about this, but there were 2 locks on the door. The room was very clean indeed and adequately furnished. The bed was... More
