Myself and my boyfriend live nearby and we come here often, the food is always amazing, it may be a little expensive but it's alway worth it. Lovely cosy pub with a open fire, friendly staff, dogs allowed. Such a good variety of food, I can't see you would be disappointed.

We went to the George for a recent Sunday lunch. We were shown to our reserved table, seated, and menus appeared. But it was the wrong table, so we had to get up again, move, and be reseated. I am 75, have just had a hip operation, and I do not like having to get up and be reseated. So not... More

Stopped by for a beer and lunch on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon. Charming pub, you walk into a proper pub bar area, the rooms beyond look a bit more restauranty. Nice staff, cosy authentic atmosphere. Beer was very well kept, tried proper job and Hophead and both were on form. Good very nice- I had a roast with... More

My wife and I went here for Sunday lunch. The inn is set in a quaint little village. On arrival the staff greeted us with a genuine smile and a hello. Once seated at the table the service was first class. Menu choice is fantastic and the food tastes fabulous. Totally recommend this inn too anybody.

My wife and I stayed two nights at The George while we were house hunting in the area. A typical oldy worldy pub with a lot of charm and character. We stayed in the Suite which is the best room and found it very quiet being at the back of the pub and pleasantly spacious. There are three pubs in... More

Wonderful location. Love the pub and the food is excellent. But the accommodation what a disappointment. Heating not working, carpet stained, bed lumpy, no blind in bathroom, décor extremely tired and dated, cobwebs and dust. I know it is an old pub but that is taking the word old too far. To cap it all walls dividing rooms are paper... More

We ate dinner here while on a long weekend visiting nearby. They were very dog friendly which is a dealbreaker for us. Offered our dogs a biscuit each which was greedily accepted. Nice menu with good selection. Local produce used. We both had nicely cooked steaks, slightly stingey on the portion size of chips. No cheaper or expensive than similar... More

A perfect example of a proper English pub... On my way home from eastbourne I took a detour and happened across the lovely village of Alfriston, it's off season thank god and I'm off work today. I stopped because I fancied a pint, good ales on show, I plumped for The Trip, very nice and £3.80, trust me round here... More

Such friendly staff, great ales and yummy food. They dealt brilliantly with a group of 12 of us - plenty of warning about handling our food order in two halves which worked well. The menu has something for everyone. Dog friendly too. Really recommended.

Arrived to a friendly welcome in this lovely old pub. Shown to our ensuite room, which I have to confess was a disappointment. The Sir John Derring Room sounds rather grand but was in fact small and, I felt, in need of some refurbishment. We had a most enjoyable meal in the evening. The breakfast was lovely smoked haddock with... More
