Absolutely fantastic pub/restaurant & hotel run by 2 people who clearly care. A lot. Hats off to Roland & Cate. Literally everything was as I'd hoped for - great atmosphere, great location for a walk to the sea & seven sisters, kitchen serving up proper food and plenty of it. Combine this with a pub garden to enjoy quality ales/gin/wines... More

Spent one night hear for a bit of walking and relaxation in the South Downs. Lovely Inn, with very friendly and helpful staff, loads of character and great food. Alfriston itself is a charming little village, in a great location for walkers. Not much more to say really, great stay! Would definitely recommend

Spent 2 nights here while visiting my brother who lives in Berwick, having stayed here one time previously. You can't help but think you are living in the 1800s with the creaky floorboards and the smell of old wooden beams. The Inn is well cared for, warm and friendly and the helpful bartender got the chef to make us a... More

lovely inn with good food and ale. Ignore the dust and blown light bulbs and immerse yourself in the ambiance. Staff very nice especiallyDan. The red room is most pleasant and comfy but the shower is truly awful. Nice garden and lounge to read your complimentary newspaper after brekkie. We will return but hope the resident ghost does not make... More

We stayed here as part of my birthday celebrations. The Inn is 14th century and the beams in the bedrooms are amazing. The room facilities are very good and there is a comfortable seating area at the foot of the stairs to resident accommodation. Dinner and wine excellent .Breakfast was relaxed and plentiful. It is in the centre of the... More

Lovely quaint, charming old Inn in a beautiful unspoilt part of Sussex. Traditional in style, it is welcoming and busy. We just stay one night at the weekend, enjoyed beautiful walks on the doorstep and some interesting shops to browse in. The food was lovely, varied menu and wine list ,and a table is reserved for guests automatically. The staff... More

We stayed at the George Inn for 3 nights whilst in Sussex celebrating our daughter's birthday. On the Saturday night 8 of us had a meal at the George and we all said how much we enjoyed it. The warmth from open fires, the wine, beer, food, presentation and service were excellent. We also had supper there with two friends... More

Stayed here whilst down in Sussex for a family party. Fabulous old building, lovely village, and the countryside around the place is superb. Typical creaky floorboard 600 year old accomodation, but the beer is good, the food superb, and the full English breakfast is to die for! Claire the landlady is very helpful, but please note there is no car park.... More

Firstly may I say if you want a modern, sterile & un interesting place to stay this isn't it!! On a wet late Autumn evening there is nothing nicer than walking into the George. The warmth of the fire is equalled by the welcome from the staff. We have stayed here several times & it never fails to please. We... More

I stayed here one night whilst attending a wedding nearby. The owner was rude and clearly knows little about service in terms of the hotel industry. The rest of the staff (it's family run) are fabulous, and tried to make up for the rude curt manner of the owner (maybe he was having a bad day!). The rooms are above... More
