Myself and 4 friends stayed here when we went for a walking weekend on the South Downs Way. Caroline and Hubby( sorry his name escapes me ) make you feel so welcome and keep an immaculate home. The bedrooms are very well equipped with tea and coffe making facilities, fresh fruit and ice cold drinking water in a flask. The... More

Having spent 5 nights in different B&Bs during our hike in SDW, this place turned out to be a disappointment unfortunately. Rooms were ok but not very attractive, breakfast was poor and service could have been much better. The location is perfect by no means. In overall this was not good B&B experience though the Village is absolutely lovely!

April Cottage is next to the South Downs way as it passes through Alfriston. It is on a quiet street one street back from Alfriston's main street. Caroline was welcoming and made a pot of tea when we arrived. The double room was nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. I really liked the nice extras, such as the foot spa.... More

A beautiful B & B in a lovely setting, clean tidy and extremely comfortable a joy to stay in. I arrived hot and bothered after walking a section of the South Downs Way and nothing was to much trouble for Caroline it was a real treat staying here and would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed here for one night at the beginning of the South Downs Way and they set a high standard for the rest of the week's B&Bs. After tackling Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters we were relieved to arrive at April Cottage and were welcomed with a big pot of tea and some home made cake - a lovely... More

We stayed just for the one night but a very pleasant one it was too. I don't agree that it is a basic B&B: granted you have to share a bathroom but it was right next door and I never had to queue! Great location as it's a stone's throw from the high street but very quiet, so you do... More

We arrived and were greeted by tea and cake-very nice! We booked the adjourning twin and double rooms both were decorated very nicely. The only downside being there was no ensuite, however we only had to share a very spacious bathroom with one other guest. Nice little touches that made us feel welcome- such as the ice cold water provided... More

We stayed here while cycling the South Downs Way, and were able to lock our bikes in the garage. It's a nice house, and the room was well equipped. Not en-suite, but the bathroom was right next door and nobody was sharing it during our stay. Everything was clean and in good order, and we had access to the wifi... More

the high street in Alfriston. Basic but good B & B. A good choice for some lovely walkingdays or if you are visiting Glyndebourne Opera.

When you're staying at April Cottage you are definitely in someone's house. This has it's advantages and disadvantages: It is kept spotlessly clean and the furnishings are good quality, but there is the slightly uncomfortable feeling that although you're a guest in someone else's house, you're not expected to make yourself at home. There is no communal room for the... More
