We stayed here in early April and had a great time from beginning to end! The room was huge and beautifully clean and welcoming - with a perfect little fold out bed for my daughter. Sue and Phil (the owners) were really great and full of knowledge and suggestions of places to visit. We had dinner in the restaurant on... More

This is my 3rd stay at the fantastic Berney Arms. Stayed with a group of friends as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. Phil and Sue are the perfect hosts and they make you feel so welcome. The rooms are stunning and finished to a supreme standard. We all ate in the restaurant in the evening and the choice and... More

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights with our 12 year-old daughter and wheaten terrier. The bedroom was very spacious, spotless and comfortable. The adjoining bathroom was a high-spec wet room. We enjoyed a tasty dinner in the bar and excellent breakfasts. Service was thoughtful, attentive and friendly. Recommended.

yesterday ourselves and 2 friends had our xmas day lunch at The Berney Arms. The meal itself was very well cooked and presented (although the starter - Ham hock terrine - was a little to large for me ! ) overall it was well balanced and tasty, the service was excellent and the decorations and tables were delightful. second visit... My husband and I had Sunday lunch here yesterday and would like to share our positive experience with others. The restaurant area looked lovely with candles and Xmas decs. set against the white linen tablecloths and serviettes. It was nice to have a spacious table that could accommodate 4 set for 2 people. The food was extremely tasty and beautifully... More

We stayed here recently with an elderly relative, each having our own tastefully decorated and comfortable ground floor rooms in converted buildings beside the Inn, and set apart from any possible disturbance from the Inn itself (not that it was noisy!). The bathrooms and standards of fitting are great, and we appreciated the simple, but smart decoration. The twin bedded... More

We stayed here with our dogs and child and had a wonderful weekend. The room we stayed in (carriage room) was absolutely lovely - the website pics don't do justice to the style and high end finish. The food is really tasty ( evening and breakfast ) and the staff attentive and professional. We will return.

We live locally and only recently discovered this place.. We have had a Sunday dinner here which was reasonably priced and have been back since for a midweek dinner which again was lovely. Only minor grumble is I ordered the same dessert both times and the second time it was made differently (Eaton passion fruit mess) the second time it... More

Having stayed here before for a girlie weekend I was eager to show my husband the source of my praises. We arrived mid afternoon and were sown to our beautiful en-suite room, The Smithy, and left to settle in with lots of tea, coffee, biscuits, etc. We arrived in the bar for our 8.15 meal, and ordered drinks, opting for... Set in the very quiet village, almost a hamlet, of Barton Bendish, between Downham Market & Swaffham, is The Berney Arms , previously known as The Spread Eagle under different ownership. The pub was closed in March of 2010 and reopened in August of 2010. We have 5 luxurious rooms all refurbished in 2013 all are en-suite, with either Super-king of King sized beds, individual patios with bright tables & chairs. There is a bar, restaurant and very spacious garden also with bright benches. The bar & restaurant serve food all day every day, and specialise in traditional afternoon teas. The menu is centered around local seasonal produce, such as venison from the Barton estate, and asparagus from a mile away, also proper free range eggs from the next village. We look forward to welcoming you. ... more   less
