This is the first time I have visited this hotel as a couple. It is situated in a splendid position overlooking the sea, and we were allocated a sea room. The downside to this is the room becomes cold when the wind is blowing off the sea, and when we stayed there was no heating in the room only a... More

This splendidly old-fashioned hotel is very comfortable and has beautiful views of the sea and - on a clear day - the Isle of Wight. Very friendly reception. Clean comfortable rooms do show their age a bit - but then so do I. We didn't dine there, though the food is said to be good, as we wanted to explore... More

Had a lovely couple of days at The Pines Hotel again, lovely family suite, which gives everyone some privacy. Our room was looked newly refurbished and was very comfortable. Food excellent as usual. Staff nice and friendly and remembered us from our visit last year. Weather was lovely and the views from the quiet room were stunning. Spent two lovely... More

A clean comfortable hotel in a super position with great views overlooking Swanage and the Isle of Wight. Food good, plates hot (always a good sign) just marred by very slow service. Admittedly we were a large party (68) but there seemed to be a log jam in the kitchen so took 2 hours to get through dinner. Shouldn't be... More

Nothing to write home about from the outside but once inside the building is beautifully presented. Our family 'room' was more like a two bedroom apartment, decorated to a high standard with wardrobes, drawers, desks and comfy chairs in both bedrooms. An actual bathroom as opposed to en-suite and a hallway made it feel like home from home and the... More

We went on an Easter friday. First impression, hotel reminds you of the older generation hotel where décor is floral wall papers, hotel rooms still use actual keys (instead of card key), takes you nostalgic back into 1960's or very old fashion bed and breakfast feel (except the building obviously very much larger in size). Receptionist greeted us in a... More

This hotel which has moved considerably up-market is really splendid and is incredibly well positioned for its seaside views.. Both bedrooms and public rooms are extremely comfortable and furnished to a high standard. The standard of food is of the highest quality. Service, both in the restaurant and the hotel can only be described as excellent. Swanage, whilst taking you... More

Delightful views, excellent table-service breakfast, clean modern room, comfortable bed, functional free WiFi. Pleasant, helpful, unobtrusive staff especially in the restaurant. In a sea-view room, morning sunshine may wake you early; my curtains were thin. Some noise from the next room, and loud footfalls in the corridor above. Restaurant and lounge background music could be better chosen &/or less loud.... More

We were part of a group of 27 staying for a three night break. We could not have chosen a better hotel in this part of Dorset. From the moment that we arrived until we left, the manager and his staff made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. In the dining room, the choice and quality... More

Fabulous from start to finish, arrived at 13:45 21/03/15 reception very attentive, polite and welcoming. Room prefect extra view with a duel aspect but not classes as sea view despite there being one! Location beautiful, with the hills on one side sea on the other and a stunning rooftops view of swanage. Swanage town centre a short walk down the... More
