Stayed here for a few days in August. Was difficult to find a nice, dog-friendly hotel but we're so pleased we happened upon the Railway Cottage. Friendly staff, peaceful night's sleep and lovely continental breakfast different each day. The room was spotlessly clean, well presented and had a lovely en-suite. Free wi-fi, too! Always a bonus. Will definitely be returning... More

Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed delicious continental breakfasts delivered to our room. The accommodation was clean and tidy and the location was ideal for beach or town. Would definitely recommend

We came to Swanage for the day but thought we'd try to get somewhere to stay as it was so sunny. I spent hours the previous day looking online and wandered all round Swanage when we arrived on Saturday morning but was confronted with 'No Vacancies' signs everywhere! I spotted a 'Vacancies' sign at Railway Cottage (hanging from a charming... More

Good location only 5 mins walk in to the town. Room was fine but the shower was quite small and we couldn't adjust the water spray & could get a full spray. The tea pot had someone else's old tea and teabag in it. Despite requesting breakfast for 8.15am ( which they said they did) we had to leave a... More

My wife, 2 children, cockerpoo and I have just returned from an Easter weekend break at Railway Cottage. The family room was basic but fine. A little cramped but we were only used it to sleep in!!! The continental breakfast was excellent, with a different choice of breads, rolls, cereals, etc. everyday. Railway Cottage is very well located. 3 minutes... More

We stayed at the Railway Cottage Guest House in August 2014 and on arrival was given a warm welcome from Tom. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and was an overal perfect family room. The location of the Guest House was ideal, only 5 minutes from the town and beach and 5 minutes from the iconic Swanage Railway! The... More

We had a really enjoyable stay at Railway Cottage in room 9, the room was comfortable and clean with ample tea amnd coffee making facilitie and the breakfast was excellent, lovely idea to bring a hamper to the door with enough food to provide a picnic as well, homemade pastries delicious ★ A couple of suggestions for room 9, a... From start to end of my stay you couldn't get better anywhere! The location is ideal for the beach or town. The room was well equiped to meet all your needs incl. TV & the continental breakfast was enough for breakfast & a picnic lunch. Highly recommend.

Short break (4 nights) at the Railway Cottage over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Four of us in the family room, which was spacious enough and with a very good bathroom (rubber ducks were a nice touch and thrilled our daughter). Wifi working so son was happy. Parking difficult to find but always got a space off-road, which given the... More

Having booked the 5 course dining on the steam train - this was ideally located as a short walk away from the station, town and beach. We were able to park, unpack and explore the area on foot. Our room was on the ground floor - the "compact" one, which was adequate for one night - unusually for B&B there... More
