Grand Hotel has a beautiful position overlooking the beach. The hotel has some tired areas but our room, with a sea view, was adequate. There s also a large lounge to relax in with comfy seats and sea views. Compliments to the chef, waiters and waitresses as the food was excellent and the service and attention by the dining room... Very pleasant stay - food very good and staff extremely friendly and helpful. Our bed was rather small (we are both quite big) so we found it difficult to manage but next day we asked if anything could be done and although they were fully booked the manager found us another room with a slightly bigger bed - The mattresses... This was our second short break visit to this hotel and it was excellent. Lovely sea view room. Yes the shower is a bit slow but it is a lovely big old building. The staff are so pleasant at this hotel. Had dinner in the bar and the food was, as our last trip, excellent. A member of staff who... More

As 'Groupon' visitors, clearly eyes need to be 'wide open' especially during 'off peak'. As travellers who prefer a en-suite bath this was specifically requested and confirmed during booking (advised, only non-seaview rooms have bath) .... unfortunately during 'check-in' we were allocated room with shower, and on the 1st time of asking 'no chance of change' upon 2nd 'ask' a... This was a gift for my husband and myself from family members. The outside of the hotel makes it look very small and perhaps run-down, inside is so much better. Booking in was easy and very pleasant with a nice cheery smile from the receptionist and friendly chat. We were on the 3rd floor with wonderful view of the sea... More

Although the front entrance is less than imposing, once inside there was a spacious lounge area with an open fire. Room 317 was relatively spacious with a lot of storage and a good sized bathroom. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the diner and breakfasts were excellent. Well located for a lot of cliff top walking.

Stayed one night whilst visiting my mother who is in a care home. Had a reduced price room as it was part of the winter saver offer. Staff very friendly and helpful. We ate in the conservatory (with my mother) and had good quality bar food at acceptable price. Our room was on the third floor with small double bed... More

This was a somewhat frustrating experience because this hotel appears to be in a state of transitionj. It has some great positives - the location and stunning views across Swanage bay, a spacious and well-furnished bar, lounge and conservatory area, a surprisingly nice gym and spa in the basement, the food is very good, the staff are fantastic... BUT our... More

Extended family group of 10, we all ate really well and were served by very attentive staff, not expensive. Lovely piano music being played for over three hours, show tunes, light classics and 70s theme tunes buy the Grand's occasional piano player. All in all a lovely evening, great atmosphere, would come again. We weren't resident so can't comment on... More

I stopped here last week for 2 nights on business, yes this hotel is set in a lovely area, but £89 a night and 48 hour cancellation policy is behind the times. I stopped in 316 which was an ok room with a good view apart from the terrible shower ( low pressure and 25 minutes to get warm!) I... More
