We have not stayed at the Grand Hotel Swanage, but can comment very favourably on it as a venue, this July, for a Golden Wedding Anniversary Lunch for a party of 40 guests including children . It was an excellent choice. Lindsay, the General Manager was very helpful in the planning stages, and the restaurant staff with Irene, Restaurant Manager,... More

Upon arrival I mentioned to the receptionist that their evening dinner had been recommended by a friend and I was looking forward to it. Her reply was that was on a previous night and it didn't mean it would be for us. I wish I had taken note of her warning because the meal was only OK and the waiters... More

We stay for a week most years because we like it! The staff are great and nothing was too much trouble We had breakfast and dinner for 7 days and both were very good The hotel has an old fashioned charm, excellent sea views and a relaxing atmosphere

We booked this hotel as part of a family gathering and were very disappointed. The room was tiny and next to the noisy lift. The shower was so feeble it was hard to wash your hair. Staff were friendly at times, but sometimes behaved as if customers were a nuisance. The food in the bar and restaurant was disappointing. The... More

We booked this hotel at the last minute as the hotel we usually stay in , the Pines, was fully booked. Room had beautiful views but that was about the oy good thing about it . Very dated decor, thin unlined curtains which means the room was fully light at about 5.30 am. Bathroom very dated with limescale rong around... More

Stayed here on Honeymoon in July 2014 and is the sort of experience money can't buy, it is quaint and charming with a fantastic location. We experienced excellent customer service and very friendly staff. You do have to forgo some of the creature comforts and the showers could really do with replacing but apart from that a fantastic hotel and... More

Great location and views, but room not worth the £160 per night rate. Up in the eaves under a water tank so it sounded like it wa raining all the time. Poor water pressure so shower feeble and 20 minute fill time for the toilet between flushes! Bathroom needs upgrade. Staff extremely friendly but kitchen cannot cope with thoughput. Cooked... More

We book via a site for sea view room £180 a night. Luckily we got the last of the 13 parking The decor was ok. Chairs in room were down to threads and the table had small coffee splashes down the sides, but other room was very clean - couple of cracked floor tiles in the bathroom. Otherwise I think... More

Okay good points first. We booked a room with a sea view £141 per night for a double!! The view was great and the room was spacious. The garden / outside area is pretty and spacious and looks out to the coast, that's it no more good points. The whole hotel felt old, shabby and past its sell by date,... More
