My wife and I stopped at The Old Chapel for just one night in June while sightseeing in SW England. We were welcomed warmly by our hosts Sue & Phil. I gather that the former chapel has undergone several transitions over the years, but the last by Phil has created a wonderful guest-only upper level which is very visually appealing.... More

Exceptional accommodation for a b and b and hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Spoils you for anywhere else. Close to a local pub but quiet location. Town 10 mins walk. Surely a first choice for a stay in the town.

The Old Chapel will certainly challenge those not accustomed to architectural and ideological heterodoxy. Here, in the midst of Dorset, we find a former dissenting Methodist church built somewhat in the style of a Catholic basilica, enhanced with a few neoclassical cornices, decked out with new and efficient panel windows, and secularized into a B&B. That much alone--that astounding eclecticism--would... More

We stayed here to celebrate my partners birthday. When we arrived we were invited to have a cream tea which was home made and very tasty! The owners were able to give us lots of information about the town its history and places to eat. They were also able to tell us about the history of the chapel which was... More

Bedroom and guest lounge were superb with great views from the lounge. Sue and Pete were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions and directions. However the highlight was the breakfast. We have visited many great B&B's both in UK and Canada and we can honestly say that this was as good a breakfast as we have had anywhere.

From the lovely, airy bedroom to the delicious yellow eggs, everything was perfect during our stay. Sue and Phil worked very hard to give us everything we needed and we would certainly recommend The Old Chapel to anyone staying in Shaftesbury. Ideally located for Stonehenge and Salisbury.

Lovely one night stay in a quality B&B. The hosts were very welcoming but not intrusive. The accommodation was beautiful and extremely clean and well presented. Breakfast was first class with an excellent choice of fruit, yogurts, cereal etc as well as a freshly cooked hot breakfast. I can highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. we will certainly visit again.

We stayed one night a couple of weeks ago. The Old Chapel itself is an interesting building and has been sympathetically converted into a B & B. Susan and Philip were extremely helpful with advice on the area and suggestions of where to visit and eat etc. The room is extremely comfortable and there were some nice touches with the... More

This is the best 'home away from home' ever and in fact it's better than home because I didn't have to make the bed, clean the bedroom or cook the breakfast. We booked this having read reviews and I'm always a bit sceptical of reviews but I reckoned that worst case scenario, it would be ok. I have to say... More

Just returned from a fantastic one night stay at the Old Chapel B&B. We stayed in the East Room (twin) which was next to the lounge with beautiful views across the countryside. The room was furnished beautifully and there were complimentary cookies as well as some toiletries. Sue was an excellent host and accommodated our request for vegetarian breakfast -... More
