The positives - the hotel room was perfecting high quality throughout + reception were very helpful Negatives - the staff for dinner were terrible! When ordering drinks before dinner we were assured the bar didn't have a cocktail menu as it could make anything. It couldn't. The drinks then arrived after our main course did. No one waiter was looking... More

I believe the hotel was refurbished last year and what a splendid job they made of it. The entrance is impressive with a glimpse of the central courtyard and fountain visible as you walk in. The décor throughout is to a high standard and the bar and restaurant area has a really good ambiance. Very pleasant and youthful staff help... More

We booked last minute 2 night stay on a trip down to Cornwall and really enjoyed the stop off in Shaftsbury. The Grosvenor Arms has excellent staff and a hotel offering a number of very relaxing and alternative spaces to enjoy. The bar is very relaxing and comfortable with plenty of space and variety. The internal courtyard and glass roofed... More

We had a private room in the restaurant. They were very accommodating. The food was excellent. The service was good. We had a number of special dietary requirements and they catered for them no issues. We had music, a sing song and a dance and they did not complain. It was brilliant! I would recommend for a party or even... More

Just returned from Grosvenor Arms Hotel in Shaftesbury Dorset very good hotel. I found the restaurant menu limited but what I had was very good. the hotel was in a central position so was able to explore the town.

Its a long time since I stayed here and it used to be a bit of a dump but then my memories of Shaftesbury go back as far as 1959 ! Lovely surprise to find it totally changed; large, clean and bright room, stunning shower/bathroom, pleasant and helpful staff even when I had no idea that I had a 'key fob'... More

Rather short notice booking and needed a pet friendly hotel as we had to travel with our 2 dogs. Couldn't have asked for more - all staff were amazingly welcoming, and not at all put out by ourselves, our dogs or the mud we brought with us.They even had access to an outside tap on the patio where we could... This is just the inn for you if you want friendly staff, comfortable but not modern lodgings, historic town setting, and great food. We ate at the hotel for breakfast and dinner both nights. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Perfect for couples seeking a leisurely weekend away. And, there's lots to do nearby - Salisbury Cathedral to the east,... More

Good hotel in perfect position. Extremely dog friendly but not a problem if you don't have dogs as they were so well behaved and didn't bother anyone. Great bar staff and also very helpful reception staff. We had a lovely suite with a shower so enormous you could have fit at least 10 people in it. Ate in restaurant both... More

Stayed here for bank holiday weekend and had a fantastic time! The bar staff particularly were hugely professional and there was a great atmosphere throughout the restaurant and bar. The courtyard caught our attention and there was always a member of staff available. Beautiful village and hotel as well. The room and bathroom were hard to leave! Thanks so much... More
