We enjoyed our two night stay in a superior double (room 3) but more attention to small details would have enhanced our experience. For example the bathroom lighting and extractor fan were inadequate and there was no cap provided for using the drop head shower (housekeeping provided one when asked). It's an old building with (inevitably) squeaky floorboards but our... More

My wife and I stayed at the Grosvenor Arms for two nights. This was the first time we had stayed away with our 3 month old baby daughter. The hotel could not have done anymore to make our stay more comfortable. The hotel is centrally located in Shaftsbury and is well located for a day trip to Sandbanks/Poole/Bournemouth. My personal... I cannot recommend this very tastefully decorated, centrally located hotel enough! I went there for my 60 the birthday and I could not wish for a more comfortable and lovely place! The staff is very attentive and friendly. The rooms newly decorated with impressive modern bathrooms giving you that little extra ( Neal's Yard toiletries), you should see the shower... More

This is a lovely little hotel. I can't stand rooms full of English chintz and nick nacks, and this has been modernised to an elite scale. The decor was equivalent (if not better) to some 5 star hotels we have stayed in large cities around the world. Service was wonderful. While the bars and common areas are lovely we felt... More

We revisited the Grosvenor Arms for the parentsday at the boardingschool of our daughter nearby. It felt like coming home. We like the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel and the friendly service. They made a wonderful hamper for the schoolpicnic for us,

We stayed at the Grosvenor Arms last week and used this as a base to travel around Dorset. We wanted somewhere that could take us as well as our Chocolate Labrador and had always been put off other hotels as its almost like if you are taking your dog they offer you the most run down room. The Grosvenor was... More

We stayed at The Grosvenor Arms for 2 nights during the weekend. Our first impressions were very nice, modern boutique hotel, nicely decorated and the courtyard was lovely. The young man at Reception was very helpful, check-in was smooth and when we asked about parking he advised us where to go and gave us a car parking permit so we... More

A lot of minor irritations added up to a very disappointing stay. The place is nicely designed and but the upmarket appearance is belied by poor service and very poor food. We weren't the only table complaining about badly cooked meals.

Spent a couple of nights there in late June 2015 but found it disappointing. Despite paying for upgraded room, it was poor. Stuck up in the eaves on the second floor with lots of stairs to get there. The room was dark with only one small window. A few pieces of smart furniture in an otherwise soulless room. Bar had... More

Dear TTWatson Thank you for your comments about your recent stay. We're very sorry to hear you were unhappy with your room. In response I have called our IT engineer who has fixed the wifi problem and have put in place a 10pm curfew for people going into the courtyard. The live music on a Saturday was most definitely a...
