What a great find. Caroline was so accommodating in letting us stay for one night on our way back from west Cornwall, it is a long drive back to Kent. As it was a Friday some B&B's would only allow a two night stay. We stayed in the Sherborne bedroom, which was lovely and comfortable and a great en-suite with... More

We have stayed here before and the Dorchester Room is spacious with a four poster bed, two comfy armchairs, tv and chests of drawers (so useful!) tea making in room. The shower is superb and powerful unlike most English showers !!! Thoroughly recommend it and Caroline makes you very welcome. If this was in France it would be a Relais... More

I am happy to read the wonderful reviews and glad you enjoyed your stay. I use man made hollow fibre pillows as so many guests are allergic to feathers but would have happily changed the pillows if you had mentioned the problem while you were here. Also the towels you had were brand new Vossen ones at £25 each and... More

Just back from 4 nights, staying in the 4-poster Dorchester Room. The room is large and airy, overlooking the gardens at the side of the house and very quiet. The bathroom is spacious, with an excellent shower. Caroline is very friendly and helpful, providing lots of local information and suggesting places to eat. The house is lovely and the breakfast... We recently stayed for 4 nights at this beautifully restored bed and breakfast. It is set in lovely grounds and well located for exploring West Dorset. The room (The Abbotsbury) was very comfortable, clean, and spacious with a huge bathroom ensuite. Caroline was a wonderful host, being extremely helpful from initial booking, to suggestions of places to visit during our... More

I have stayed in the Old Rectory twice in the last 6 weeks and shall return in a few days' time. It is, without question, one of the most charming, welcoming, clean and beautifully furnished B&Bs. Parking spaces in front of the house, Booking and subsequent communication with the hosts is easy and straightforward. The hosts are extremely friendly and... More

I would go along with many of the comments already made, especially about Caroline's warm welcome, genuine & sustained interest, most helpful attitude in very practical ways, e.g. local sight-seeing tips & pubs. I would also go along with the suggested improvements that have already been mentioned, especially the need for a power shower in the Dorchester room's en-suite, and... More

Thank you very much for the lovely review and for highlighting the problem with the shower. We have just had a new power shower fitted as the pump was found to be faulty on the previous one. I am sorry it was not up to our usual standard! Thank you for the other ideas you suggested too and we look... More

My husband and I stayed with our 6 month old baby at the Old Rectory for a wedding of a good friend over 2 nights and we had the most lovely, relaxing stay. Caroline welcomed us in person when we arrived and showed us to our room that had also been upgraded. If we had needed a cot for the baby... More

I would definitely recommend this b and b to anyone. The rooms are exquisite and Caroline is a wonderful host, she is so accommodating. We stayed here on our wedding night in the Dorchester (gorgeous 4 poster bedroom) some of our close friends stayed also and we all had a wonderful breakfast in the morning, it was such a fabulous...
