We stayed here for 5 nights in August, a family of 3. The decor of the hotel suits the history of the building. Our room was really quiet (we stopped in room 105) the room was on the back of the hotel, we asked for a room for 3 which was a large king size bed and a single bed,... More

A good old coaching inn with spacious and comfortable rooms, this hotel is friendly and relaxed. A good-sized car park is to the rear of the hotel and, although I had no problem driving my largish car through the entrance archway, just be aware that it looks a bit tight. There did not seem to be too many trained staff... More

The King's Arms is an old building but the room was large and very comfortable. The staff helpful and the breakfast excellent. The only downside was the lack of hair dryer. When we asked for one we were told "We did have one but it broke". For such a hotel this is very strange.

The Kings Arms in Dorchester has been an inn for many centuries, receiving horse drawn coaches and hosting Thomas Hardy and Nelson amongst many others. It's historic, and this is perhaps reflected in the squeaky floorboards and the quirky building layout. However, this is no excuse for basic problems with the hotel. The first issue is the entry to the... More

This is a very old building with every thing you would expect from an old building. The floor boards in the bedrooms creak like hell when you move around. The floor levels are uneven with the odd little step now and again to catch out the unwary. The rooms was clean and of a good size. The Bathroom was clean... More

Stayed here for business because I wanted to avoid the Premiere Inn. Although the staff was very friendly i have to say that this hotel probably had its last refurbishment at the time that I was born. I had a room on the main street what caused lots of noice and earthquakes. The hotel has lots of stairs and carpeted... More

We stopped for 4 nights in a double room. The room was decorated very nicely and, above all, was spotlessly clean. There was complimentary bottled water provided on arrival which was very much appreciated after a long 4 hour journey in a boiling hot car! There was also the usual tea making facilities and a modern flat screen tv. The... More

We didn't stay here, but we attended a funeral party on Tuesday, and the staff were excellent and so attentive. We very much appreciated the Elderflower frappe as we were both driving. The sandwiches were good, and the alcohol was flowing, but as before, we enjoyed watching everyone who could , partake of a drink to celebrate the life of... More

We thought the hotel / room was OK / quite good, until we found out that breakfast for 2 was going to be an additional £30 on top of the room rate! Were they having a laugh? We went into the local Costa for breakfast instead! TV had some channels missing - including BBC news, so seems a lack of... More
