My room (300) was cosy, and I liked the large bathroom. The hotel is quaint, with squeaking floorboards and uneven floors. All adds to the atmosphere. We were a group of runners doing a marathon the next day and leaving too early for breakfast. The receptionist kindly said he would put out cereal and fruit as well as tea and... More

Originally staying for 5 night break at this Hotel. The staff were very nice and friendly, our room (102) was adequate and we were expecting some road noise as we already knew the Hotel was on a main road. As it was a warm week, we needed the window open at night, but what we didn't expect was the Boiler... More

Stayed for one night in an upgraded room. Room was spacious, lovely bed, good sized TV, nice bathroom. Sofa seen better days, but overall a good room. Lovely feel to the place. The best thing this hotel has is location, parking and great staff. The Breakfast was fabulous, the lunch was also very good. The staff were keen to help... More

One night stay here- room was old and has a mish mash of old and new. Wooden window frames so didn't manage to get windows open because they were so stiff so room was a bit too warm. Nice bathroom and good shower but room a bit dusty- the whole Hotel is very old and it shows. Only met reception... More

A very pleasant hotel (Has a lift). Looks like it has recently been refurbished. Nice main entrance - has an old colonial look to it. My room was small (but it is a very old inn), but the decor was lovely and it was very clean. Food really good. Great steak. Also gorgeous homemade soup. Breakfast - lots to choose... More

A 5 night stay at the 'chief hotel of Casterbridge' on the High Street. Heavy through traffic, so yes, best avoid rooms at the front. Ours was at the side of the hotel - view of another building - but it was quiet and spacious. The ensuite was large too, if a bit minimalist. Good, flexible shower, but no storage... More

We went for lunch into the bar of the hotel. Although much of the old charm of the building has gone the makeover suggests that money has been spent well. It certainly doesn't scream 'Best Western' Our order was taken - and as seemed to be the case on other tables - wasn't completely correct. The food was reasonable. On... More

Stayed here for two nights. Our room was at the back, a bit dark as only one small window but very well furnished and very spacious and there is ample parking. The breakfast is exceptionally good and food is cooked to order. The bar food in the bistro is very reasonably priced but no more than average pub food I... More

The Kings Arms is right in the centre of Dorchester on the main street so front facing rooms are not too quiet. There is a bar/bistro and also a restaurant, which seems to be used only for breakfast. There is also a large car park, which is essential as parking in Dorchester is not easy. Our room was comfortable and... More

This hotel was just as advertised, an old coaching inn. The features and rooms enjoy sloping floors (not too sloping) creaky floorboards and period character while having all you should expect from a modern up market hotel. Our room was very big with a large bed, a sofa and adequate period furniture plus large screen TV and radio CD player.... More
