We didn't stay here, but we attended a funeral party on Tuesday, and the staff were excellent and so attentive. We very much appreciated the Elderflower frappe as we were both driving. The sandwiches were good, and the alcohol was flowing, but as before, we enjoyed watching everyone who could , partake of a drink to celebrate the life of... More

We thought the hotel / room was OK / quite good, until we found out that breakfast for 2 was going to be an additional £30 on top of the room rate! Were they having a laugh? We went into the local Costa for breakfast instead! TV had some channels missing - including BBC news, so seems a lack of... More

Had to be in Dorchester for a business meeting, Picked this from the website (only a few local options) Very pleasent stay, Quite reasonable value. Good service, I Would definitely stay here again. Plus some more words to get to the minimum length - Have these website designers never heard that 'less is more'?

My room (300) was cosy, and I liked the large bathroom. The hotel is quaint, with squeaking floorboards and uneven floors. All adds to the atmosphere. We were a group of runners doing a marathon the next day and leaving too early for breakfast. The receptionist kindly said he would put out cereal and fruit as well as tea and... More

Originally staying for 5 night break at this Hotel. The staff were very nice and friendly, our room (102) was adequate and we were expecting some road noise as we already knew the Hotel was on a main road. As it was a warm week, we needed the window open at night, but what we didn't expect was the Boiler... More

Stayed for one night in an upgraded room. Room was spacious, lovely bed, good sized TV, nice bathroom. Sofa seen better days, but overall a good room. Lovely feel to the place. The best thing this hotel has is location, parking and great staff. The Breakfast was fabulous, the lunch was also very good. The staff were keen to help... More

One night stay here- room was old and has a mish mash of old and new. Wooden window frames so didn't manage to get windows open because they were so stiff so room was a bit too warm. Nice bathroom and good shower but room a bit dusty- the whole Hotel is very old and it shows. Only met reception... More

A very pleasant hotel (Has a lift). Looks like it has recently been refurbished. Nice main entrance - has an old colonial look to it. My room was small (but it is a very old inn), but the decor was lovely and it was very clean. Food really good. Great steak. Also gorgeous homemade soup. Breakfast - lots to choose... More

A 5 night stay at the 'chief hotel of Casterbridge' on the High Street. Heavy through traffic, so yes, best avoid rooms at the front. Ours was at the side of the hotel - view of another building - but it was quiet and spacious. The ensuite was large too, if a bit minimalist. Good, flexible shower, but no storage... More
