Stayed here for a dinner bed and breakfast package. I've reviewed dinner separately. Friendly welcome on arrival and very helpful instructions to the parking (free after 6 and on Sundays). Gorgeous room! Incredibly comfy four poster bed, some beautiful furniture, nice little bathroom. We showered in the evening and the water was incredibly hot but was fine in the morning.... More

Had trouble parking when we arrived. Parking is either on the High Street or in a local car park. The High St is pay per hour, free overnight but you would need to get out there at 8.00am to put a new ticket on. Local car park cheap but a way to carry your bags. The Hotel advertises free local... Unfriendly greeting! Felt like we were unwelcome on arrival. Room was extremely small and the shower had little to no power. The morning was better as breakfast was cooked really well. Basically I would not stay here again. Massively over priced. For future guests we recommend to not arrive late as this was clearly an inconvenience and we were made... More

Sorry you felt that way, but our reception is open one hundred and one hours per week. You arrived nearly three hours after our advertised time and it was ten past midnight but you had arrived in town many hours earlier. Perhaps you should have selected a property that has a night porter, or collect a key ealier so as... More

We stayed at this modest hotel for 5 nights last week, and highly recommend it. The Georgian building is beautiful and the decor matches it well. Our room was small but very pretty, the bed comfortable and the breakfasts first class. What really made it however was Monica, the proprietress's, genuinely warm welcome and local knowledge. On our arrival, she... More

This is a nice town house hotel, with pleasant communal sitting areas. The first thing that hit us on arrival though was the smell of stale food.Which nearly made us turn around... However, the decor is nice, very traditional. Our room was a traditional room with a 4 poster. Decor slightly tired but not bad. No bottles of water in... More

I stayed 4 nights here and this is a great place from which to explore Dorset. A comfortable bed and pleasant bathroom although the shower could do with upgrading. The breakfast was excellent. An attractive lounge, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend The Casterbridge.

The Casterbridge is directly on the High St just before you leave Dorchester. There is no car park, However there is a Long Stay car park 4 minutes away, which charges £4.00 per day 8am to 6pm Mon-Fri. There are two quaint reception rooms and a dining room with a conservatory extension, where breakfast is served. The room we were... More

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, the staff could not have been more welcoming. We had a lovely room with everything we could need. The breakfast was wonderful and cooked to order. The decor of the hotel is lovely and very homely. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

My wife brought me here for my birthday for 2 nights and to eat in the restaurant. We had a great trip. Dorchester is a lovely town with lots to do... We parked in the hotel car park - 3 mins walk since the hotel is on the main road and parking is charged at the meter. The hotel is... More
