We were invited to this Restaurant to celebrate a special birthday. We were informed that the Chef had won Masterchef in 2009 )Tom Foley?). The food was excellent and service very good. It only Opens on a Friday and Saturday night so booking is essential the only thing to improve the ambience and style of the restaurant in our opinion... More

The Casterbridge is very picturesque from the outside and beautifully furnished inside.Owners are very friendly and helpful.A really delicious breakfast is served in a lovely conservatory and there is a really nice courtyard garden..Although they do not serve evening meals every night there are a number of very good restaurants within walking distance.

This is a lovely characterful hotel, right on the main street in Dorchester. The owners offer a warm welcome and the rooms are immaculate. (Because of a mix up I got to see two of them!) Ours was over the street, but overnight noise was not a problem as Dorchester centre seems to go quiet in the evening. Having breakfast... More

This was a really superb hotel. A lovely building decorated and furnished in a very elegant and comfortable way. Our room had a four poster bed, nice furniture, a great bathroom with bath & shower over, and was very clean. Everyone was very friendly and professional, and breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended!

There was a faulty lighting in the room and it made the room dark with the blackout curtains. I expected a word of apology when complained about it to the owner but it came as a shock when Marvin Curtis the owner shouted at me saying ‘It’s just one light! You must have a faulty light at your house.’ then... More

The room was spacious and comfortable and the owners were very accommodating toward my allergy-ridden breakfast needs. Its location is convenient to pretty much everywhere. In the way of constructive criticism, a few things that can be improved are: 1) uneven wifi signal -- it was only close to my room door that I could get connection, which was a... More

Booked a room for the night as we wanted to visit Mat Follas' restaurant (also recommended). Very warm and helpful welcome with lovely room, great breakfast as well. Only not giving 5 stars as no direct parking, although not a major problem, hotel has some spaces and there is a low cost car park just round the corner.

The Casterbridge is a truly delightful small hotel. Rooms are very tastefully decorated and it is all very clean. The proprietors are wonderfully friendly and helpful and breakfast is lovely. Once you get the hang of where to park it is no problem. Would definitely go back there again and to try their evening meals on a Friday and Saturday.

Elegant building. Comfortable room. Great deal of period furniture. Host V. accommodating - encouraged guests to bring in take-aways and use the dining room. Breakfasts good and delightfully served by 'young' Katie. Altogether a good stay!

Received the warmest of welcomes by the chef who turned out to be a "BBC master chef" winner, sadly didn't get to sample his food as were staying to attend a nearby wedding. The owners were equally delightful and more than helpful (even posting back at no expense to us our left items!). Rooms were spotless and charming, breakfast delicious... More
