We've just spent a great three days at Hazel Cottage with Penny and Charles who are wonderful hosts and go the extra mile for their guests. Everything was perfect – from our welcoming cup of tea and home-made cake to Richard's last breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. Our ground floor room was very comfortable, with its wide bed,... More

We endorse all that has been said before. Just the place to relax and enjoy the countryside, particularly the Sydling to Bridport 'scenic route' - detailed information provided by Charles and Penny, together with an abundance of Dorset information - in four days we barely scratched the surface! Our waist lines are still 'suffering' from the substantial start to the... More

We had two nights here and were most pleased with our experience. The innkeepers are extremely knowledgable about the Dorset area and devoted much time with us in planning two separate full day drives in the area. The accomodation was quite lovely and the breakfast was delightful including several homemade jams. More

We have just returned from our fourth visit to Hazel Cottage, the very best B & B you will find anywhere. Penny and Charles have thought of absolutely everything to make one's stay the most comfortable experience. From the generously appointed refreshment tray in the rooms, to the beautiful array of toiletries in the bathroom: from the biggest and best... More

Whether it be the accommodation, the food or the welcome from Charles and Penny, from the moment you step over the threshold of Hazel Cottage everything will be perfect. The upstairs room where we stayed was spacious and comfortable, and the beautifully appointed bathroom had a spacious bath and a wonderful shower. A tray in the room provided an abundance... More

Picked this B & B on the basis of previous reviews, and so glad we chose it! Charles and Penny are the most wonderful hosts, full of great advice and information, and have a huge stock of leaflets, maps and books on any place you might want to visit in the area. We stayed in the downstairs room, which was... More

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Hazel Cottage in Sydling St Nicholas. On our arrival we found freshly prepared squash, tea, coffee and fresh milk in the room. We stayed in the downstairs room which is a bit cheaper than the upstairs rooms. Even though it is located on the same level as the entrance door and the breakfast... More

Sydling St Nicholas has thatched cottages, flower filled gardens,a pub with excellent meals friendly people and little traffic. Hazel Cottage in the centre of the village was the perfect place to stay. Our room was spotlessly clean, serviced daily and our comfort assured by attention to every detail down to a small sewing kit .Penny and Charles served a superb... More

We stayed just two nights but long enough to really appreciate this superbly welcoming and comfortable B&B visit with Penny and Charles who are exceptional hosts, very thoughtful, gracious and set a really high standard for every aspect of their B&B. They know loads about the area and the beautiful garden was an added bonus. We had an excellent night's... More

Beautiful, well appointed room in a lovely house, peaceful surroundings. Also free wireless internet access which was a bonus. Wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home, even providing gluten free toast for my breakfast. Local pub The Greyhound in Sydling St Nicholas in walking distance for good evening meals. First class all round,... More
