From the literature (and the name) you could expect the Urban Beach to be achingly hip and oppressively trendy, but it isn't really. It's just welcoming, casual and determinedly un-chintzy. Stayed at this funky little hotel for 2 nights and can only concur with all the plus points recorded in previous reviews, great room, staff, food and ambience. From finding the hotel website (very well designed and certainly gives the right impressions of the hotel) to checking out, our weekend break at the urban beach was great. We booked last minute on a DB&B basis for a 1 night (Sat) stay. Found it on Sawdays site and booked over the phone, easy and friendly. On arrival we wondered what to expect as the building looks like (and basically is) a house converted into a pub/B&B. But don't let that put you off - it's really great! Great... more

Got a good rate through 'Late Rooms' on the day I stayed here - not sure I would have paid the advertised rate. This is a hotel despite it looking like a B&B from the outside (it has a small restaurant serving lunch and dinner) in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth. We stayed for a night in Room 5, the japanese inpired room - Jono greeted us on arrival and was so friendly, personally showing us up to our room and pointing out the free dvd and wellington boots that we could borrow if we liked. This hotel is a great example for any other business to follow. The staff are hardworking,proffesional, laidback and friendly. The rooms are cosy, relaxing, well appointed and chic. It is unusual to find somewhere that inspires so many adjectives.This is the genuis of Urban Beach, a clever blend of great qualities that is a joy to experience. more
