I took my 6 year old son to stay at this hotel last weekend as a nice long weekend by the sea, as I'd stayed there a few years ago and had been recommended it, by someone else who had stayed there (also more than 5 years ago). This hotel has obviously changed management in the last few years, it... more

Stayed at the Manchester with a group of 70 or so other generally middle aged travellers from our local club. Initial reaction was of the cleanliness everywhere,- it appears to have just been decorated throughout -, and the exuberant welcome from management and staff. It is a mish mash of corridors leading to some initial excitement in actually finding our... more

Just returned from short break at this Hotel with a group of 50 55+ people. Apparently under new management and feel we received value for money. There were a few minor problems but staff were very helpful and willing to attend to these wherever possible. Food was good, well cooked and there was adequate variety. Room layouts and sizes seemed... more

After reading some reviews on this site, i wasnt entirely looking forward to my stay while on a Hen Weekend - How wrong were those reviews!?! Ok, the place's decor is still a bit stuck in the 1800's, but it kinda gives the place character! There were 14 of us, all given rooms situated next to eachother - clean, plasent... more

Booked the room online to attend a friend's wedding, paying a deposit of £30 in the process. We wanted a comfortable room for ourselves and our 11 month old daughter and the website suggested that's what we'd get. We turned up at reception and it stank like an old people's home, of stale urine. Bad start. Checked in and they... more

No remote controls in rooms Why a big tv screen in the lounge?? old amenities heating : one floor was too hot, one was freezing No water pressure when the hotel is busy.. Avoid having one of the rooms overlooking the back... the manager (a man) can hardly smile... more

The staff are sbaoluteley fantastic happy to help with anything, the pool table to umbrellas to giving you an ealy christmas present. It has seen better days of course. The rooms were very nice not massive but clean with complementary... more

. The Manchester is a bit of a rabbit warren, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason in the layout of the place. There is a lift which must be the slowest in the country. Rooms are adequat in size and decor. Try to avoid having one of the rooms overlooking the back,if you do, keep the curtains... more

This is a one tea bag, 9p baked beans, happy shopper hotel. They appear to have spent their entire 10 year refurbishment budget on the plasma TV in the lobby. Which is great until your get to your room and go looking for a remote control. Yes - everything IS that old. OK, to give it its due, the staff... more
