An old fashioned hotel in need of a bit of tlc. On the Westcliffe in Bournemouth (close to the pier) with a downhill stroll to the Lower Gardens, so you can be on the beach in minutes or take the cliff lift (but this closes at 6pm!!) The grounds are lovely and over look the sea. Our room needed a... More

Like all hotels yes, all hotels. some rooms will need refurbishing more than others. I am pleased to say that this year we have already converted 9 rooms to our superior spec after reading the comments on TA and will be continuing to further our bedstock over the comming few months. Nearly every room has had some investment in them... More

This hotel is owned by the Coast and Country chain. My wife and I had stayed at their hotel in Bath a few years ago, found it very good so decided on another in the group. We were not disappointed. We travelled by air direct to Southampton from Belfast using rail and bus transport thereafter. The trains from the airport... More

Arrived at hotel without prior booking and had the last available room. It was room no 3 on the lower level with a door leading to the beautiful garden area. The room was in very good order with modern facilities. We were offered another room on our 2nd day with a view from the 3rd floor but on inspection the... More

Amazingly patient and helpful staff in spite of the poor manners of some guests . Close enough to the town but in a quiet residential road. Food traditional and fresh. Communal area s were spacious and comfortable with entertainment most nights. Yes some aspects of our room were a little tired but brightened up by new furnishings and large enough... More

A pleasant hotel in a lovely part of Bournemouth. Visited with a friend, we were very pleased with our room as it was very spacious and clean. Only downside was the shower had a very poor flow of water, but it didn't spoil our stay. The staff were exceptional - very helpful, polite and friendly. The food was very good.... More

Thank you for the comments regarding the staff - I will look into your shower issue as it is generally very good although sometimes our water pressure can be affected if everyone in the hotel is drawing of water at the same time. More

We have just returned from a very relaxing week's holiday and I am surprised to read comments regarding poor quality rooms. As usual, we upgraded and were not disappointed with our room -with garden view (which included a view of the sea). We opted for a twin room, which was spacious. The shower was one of the best we have... More

Hi Kay I couldn't agree more we have great staff and paying the upgrade for a superior room is well worth it - we now have 17 superior rooms because of wonderful comments like yours and the demand for them. More

The hotel is situated in large grounds overlooking the West Cliff side of Bournemouth. Good access to the town down a fairly steep incline but a pleasant walk. Nice big swimming pool in the hotel's gardens for any sunny weather we might get. Pays to upgrade to a "Garden" room otherwise the bedroom outlook is poor (car park and other... More

I understand the need to try and get as many cars in our car park, consequently we have relined the carpark in line with national guidelines and put them on the angle so as to try and avoid the 'niffty driving' More

Booked a double room through Shearings Holidays for two, and was given a dirty smelly room with small window covered in cob webs and opening on to a car park which we refused. Then given another with two beds on the first floor overlooking a stinking moss covered roof covered in cigarette ends. A dirty carpet covered loose floor boards... More
