Myself and my boyfriend stayed at The Cumberland on June 22nd 2009. I had booked the week before and asked for a "Superior Deluxe Sea View Room" - The room was fabulous, red & gold decor, huge queen size bed, balcony with central sea view (Room 407) ... However I can imagine other rooms in the hotel are probably not... more
This place looks amazing from the outside...we were so excited as four professionals in Bournemouth on conference! The staff on reception were unfreindly from the outset but my room was the BOX as described in some of the previous reviews! There is no bathroom as such just an area divided by a curtain. The 'windows' are completely inaccesible and the... more
Fantastic pool surrounded by palm trees, sun beds and a decking area that accomodated modern outdoor furniture and led to a very smart and colourful bar where you had a choice of Bar or Waiter service. All staff in every area of the hotel were very professional. They were smartly dressed, efficent and just couldn't do enough for you but... more
Just spent a couple of nights at the Cumberland Hotel, Bournemouth and really enjoyed it. It is one of 3 now owned by the chain, Oceana Group, situated together on the seafront. It has been tastefully decorated to reflect the age of the building in Art Deco era. Relaxing dining area, lounges & bars plus extensive external decking & seating.... more
On arrival there was nowhere to park in Cumberland or its two partner hotels. Parked in main road and paid. Website (terms and conditions) stated 6.30 p.m. dinner. On arrival told it was 7.00 p.m. Our 4 year old normally eats at 5 to 5.30 so we could stretch to 6.30 but 7.00 was pushing it. When we requested an... more
My husband and I have just come back from a weekend at the Cumberland Hotel in Bournemouth, we really enjoyed ourselves we cannot fault it at all. The service was exellent, the room was fine very clean, the food was absolutly wonderful. The hotel itself is very Art Deco, the bar leeds out onto the pool area where we had... more
A lot of money has been laid out on the public rooms to create an Art Deco ambience on the ground floor but sadly nothing seems to have been spent upstairs. Our room (number 119) reeked of cooking smells - chips when we arrived late afternoon, roasted garlic before dinner, and bacon at breakfast time the next day. We complained... more
We booked through last minute with their top secret hotels, it was going to be out of the 3 hotels The Cumberland, Suncliffe and Cliffside. When we found out it was The Cumberland we were so happy as it looked the best from their website. Just the kind of hotel we were looking for. Once we arrived, hotel car park... more
We held a party for clients last night at the Cumberland and had a fabulous time. The venue was perfect as the two rooms provided the ideal atmosphere with the benefits of being able to go out onto the pool area as well. The feedback gained from everyone that attended the event was great and many guests have chosen to... more
