As a regular, we stay here at least once a year. There seems no point in looking anywhere else. We try to get our favourite room at the front on the second floor with a view down the side road to the sea. With very effective double glazing, there is no problem with noise at night. It would be sensible... More

prime location within easy reach of town centre and beach. Decor in room and bathroom fresh and pleasant. Room was OK for one for one night but would be snug for two for a week. Eg there was the usual folding case stand in the wardrobe but no-where you could put it that wouldn't block access to one or other... More

Dog and children friendly ......... but reception staff and the management are not so friendly with the bill paying parents! This is the second time we have stayed here in a year, and the second time several reception staff have either ignored us or have been overheard being rude to others, and management/owners never even bother to acknowledge their guests... Room clean. Comfy bed. Not great views from our bedroom but it was still ok. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast great with table service, again very nice staff. We had our little dog with us and it's great if you want to bring along your four legged family member.

We have stayed in some awful hotels recently so to arrive here was an absolute delight! The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and so quiet even being on the front. The bed was comfy, the curtains black out and the ensuite was immaculate. Everything was very clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and the... More

The Collingwood is in an excellent location being only a short walk to the town centre, the pier and to the beach. (If slopes are a problem, it is only a few minutes walk from the cliff lift at the end of St Michael's Road.) The no 50 bus links to the railway station. The rooms are fitted to a... More

I stayed here for two nights as a family of five in a lovely large family room which was very spacious. Plenty of room for everyone and a great sea view. Breakfast and dinner were both delightful and filling with many dishes to choose from. Our waiter, Cristiano, always gave service with a smile and was very polite. The hotel... More

Comfortable, clean, excellent food, very friendly staff, great service. Convenient location. We were very well catered for as vegetarians. Enjoyed the pool. Good parking. We recommend the Collingwood and are coming back for another visit!

Stayed for one week in July with elderly disabled father-in-law. The hotel is in a good location for both beach and town ( though the shortest route includes a steep hill). It has a large car park. There is some traffic noise and it also gets a lot of Stag and Hen parties passing at the weekend, so request a... More

My husband and I have just stayed four nights at the Collingwood. We have always had a few days at the hotel for the last 12 years or so and it has been great. We missed last year though. This year seemed so much better. Rooms have been refurbished, new carpet throughout and the food was excellent. Hot and a... More
