My wife and I were due to stay at the Menzies East Cliff Court, but our booking was transferred to the Menzies Carlton, supposedly due to rooms experiencing leaks due to heavy rain the previous night (we were advised of this by phone prior to our arrival). I was assured that the hotels were of similar standard - if so,... More

Stayed one night at the Carlton hotel Bournemouth, on arrival at the hotel the outside was old and dated with bricks looking weathered and in need of a complete overhaul. When I entered the reception I was stunned by the glittering gold and sparkling mirrors everywhere which was a real delight, and added a lovely homely feel. It's was a... More

It was only £69 a night b & b, on late arrival receptionist was terrific, wifi works soundly, they upgraded me to an ocean view, bed comfortable, breakfast clean and plentiful in restaurant, wine a good price for quality too, what's not to like (if only Bournemouth itself was the same.....). Would recommend

WE stayed just one night 30th October as we were seeing a show at BIC.Pleasantly surprised by our seaview room which was well decorated and clean with a very comfortable king sized bed.We understand that the new owners who bought the hotel from the Administrators of the Menzies group. They have invested substantial monies, over a £1m I believe, and... More

Spent 2 nights here during half term, very good location opposite the cliff lift or zig zag path to beach, but also pretty easy walk to pier, gardens and shops ( but you might not want to carry too much back as that's the uphill direction, not too steep though its a fairly gentle gradient depending on your own fitness... I have given Menzies 4/5, and no, I don't think there is only one level between Menzies Carlton and the best a hotel can be. However, my experience of the hotel was very good. Firstly, the hotel is well priced. The rooms, or at least the one we had was really modern, warm and homely yet still hotel-like and not... More

Nice stay. Good location. Our room was huge!! We got moved here from another hotel that was fully booked. Breakfast wasn't the best, but other than that a good hotel right on the beach. Car park was a little confusing. It's free, but has signs up saying you have to pay. Ignore them and just register your car at reception

Internally the hotel is tired and needs some TLC, had a family meal there and was given the wrong menu so this was disappointing as it was the children's menu although our waitress was very good. Beautiful location had a sea view room and the view was perfect. If it receives the TLC it requires this hotel would be a... More

We only stayed one night at this hotel as we were in Bournemouth for a birthday party. The staff at the hotel couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. However I think the hotel looks a bit tired and could do with a bit of refurbishment. They have many facilities, but since we were only there overnight, we can only... More

Nowhere near as good as it thinks it is. Our family room (king bed and two put-me-ups for the kids, one of which kept collapsing) was so dingy the Addams family would reject it, but it was just within child monitor distance of the dining room so we hung in there. I proved best not to wonder what the bed... More
