We ended up at the Carlton by happy accident, since the Cumberland had over-booked and gave us just a few days notice that they were unable to honour our booking. The hotel is typical of the old Grand Hotels in Bournemouth with ornate panelling, chandeliers etc. It has been open since circa 1947 and as expected, some of this age... More

Stayed here with the girlfriend for just one night. The hotel is traditionally decorated, very nice, chandeliers, mirrored panelling. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size, and the bed was big and comfortable. The view was awesome. As the hotel is on the cliff, you can see for miles out to sea. The... More

Just returned from a very enjoyable 4 night break in sea view room with big balcony. Room was very big with high ceiling but needed complete refurb and bathroom was no longer acceptable - I hate shower curtains, especially on a narrow bath! Music from bar immediately below kept going to nearly 1.00 am which kept us awake on just... More

Nice old fashioned hotel, good staff, clean, cosy and warm, we were lucky enough to have up upgrade to room 313, super big bedroom, lounge with good view of coast line. we also enjoyed large bathroom. breakfast nice, i enjoyed the porridge although it may be a bit thick for some, sausages also delicious. Dinner, a bit hit and miss,... More

Iconic hotel on the East Cliff, not far from the centre of Bournemouth (but a fairly steep walk from there). Stayed for a week in January - very reasonable price for a sea view room (booked via a third party website but to be fair their website was the same). Room was lovely - large in size with all the... We love this hotel. We have stayed here several times in the past and have always had great service, comfy beds, great food and full use of the spa. We went last Saturday for a wedding vowels renual ceremony, and it was beautiful. I can't really rate this stay as much as normal as we were separate from the rest... More

The Carlton has been my favourite hotel since the seventies. Yes I am that old, but my faculties are still all there. This hotel is still lovely if a little old and tired(like Myself). We arrived for the weekend after the New Year to greet a new grandchild. The Front Desk was empty, no staff anywhere . Finally checked in no... More

This hotel is in urgent need of maintenance. Yes when you walk in the reception area is very inviting. Just where do I begin...... When we put on the bath water it came out brown and full of rust so I went to the room service the boy came to look and said he would let the manager know and... More

We are regular guests at the Carlton Hotel over 20 years or so and would not stay anywhere else. The welcoming staff at reception always ready to assist and the Manager Philip making sure guests are happy and comfortable. It was a very special birthday for my son last weekend and the whole family spent the weekend, and all staff... More
