The sad thing about my experiences at the Menzies Carlton Hotel in Bournemouth this weekend (31 Aug 2014 for 1 night) is that the overall feeling could be addressed quite easily if staff were trained to smile, make eye contact and act like the customer exists as a person. The Building itself is old but this in itself should be... More

Absolutely lovely. Huge clean beautifully decorated room. Safe secure surroundings. 5. Mins from beach. Variety of breakfast. Family rooms were very spacious. Staff very helpfully. Definately going back for a few more nights. Perfect for weekends away. You can get cheaper rooms at other hotels, however pay extra here and you will have an experience you won't forget. Plus heated... More

We decided to have a couple of days break in Bournemouth and decided to stay at the Menzies Carlton and what a good choice it was. We had a lovely spacious standard double room, the bed was huge and so comfy. We had breakfast at the Hotel which was very nice, the usual choices but plenty of it. The staff... More

My husband and i arrived at the hotel on thurs 28th aug for a two night stay for the festival, after a quick check in went to our room on the second floor which was very nice and big on the side of the hotel and we could see the sea. There was a superking size bed and two nice chairs... More

Another fabulous day spent watching the Air Show from the grounds of the Hotel. BBQ lunch and Cream tea were excellent. The staff were very attentive. Very relaxed and stress free afternoon watching the amazing Red Arrows etc. in a beautiful setting. Parking is reserved for you too when you buy your tickets! We did this last year too and... More

Stayed here for a wedding in August. Our room, at the rear of the hotel was very large - with a table and 2 chairs, comfy bed, large LCD telly, plenty of storage, and what I thought was a built-in wardrobe turned out to be a separate living room area, with a couch and another large LCD telly! There was... More

Visit just for a drink at 4.30pm on the first day of the Bournemouth Air Festival. Ordered a coffee, in the bar, was told we could only have an Americano ( no filter, no espresso, no cap..) nothing else because 'they' would be busy in half an hour! Ordered tea for two.... Meanwhile 3 or 4 staff behind the bar... More

Another review stated that the beach was a thirty second walk!! Only If You Go Off The Edge Of The Cliff. There is a cliff lift (small charge) or a zig zag cliff walk. Not great for the anyone who doesn't like heights. The pictures are deceiving in my opinion. The hotel is old with creaking floorboards and peeling wallpaper.... More

This was my 2nd time visiting this hotel, both times have been in one of the private apartments as part of a time share. I'll do two separate reviews, one for the apartment and one for the hotel in general. Apartment: We stayed in the badminton suite in mid August and from the outside, the place isn't too modern and... We stayed recently for one night on a Tuesday. Arrived to a prompt and helpful check inn. We're put in a large room which was slightly dated but clean. Our only complaint was that the 'zip and lock beds' were broken and not zipped or locked! In effect to singles pushed together with 2 single duvets to make a double.... More
