Booked an overnight stay & was pleasantly surprised. It is a pub/restaurant with rooms, right on the beach front, with limited parking. Though dated the accommodation is clean & comfortable. Room was very warm. Excellent service, very good food, friendly staff. . My thanks to Richard, Justin & Raquel

Booked 3 nights here at short notice due to a family bereavement. I was a bit unsure having read some reviews but decided to take a chance due to the good value offered and am very glad I did. The accommodation is dated but clean and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are excellent and the service is superb. We were... More

A brief overnight (winter) stay whilst visiting family nearby. It was clean, cosy and warm with a filling full English breakfast. Some recent refurshment is evident. We obtained a bargain rate for a Sunday night through booking.com with just two week's notice. We could not have asked for more. They also appear to have some bargain rates for set Christmas... The best thing that can be said in favour of this hotel is that it could hardly be closer to the beach. The pay-off, however, is that there is hardly any parking on site, though a fair amount in nearby streets. Style-wise, this is basically a pub with rooms, and one in serious need of renovation: I would not want... More

stayed for a night last week. The room was OK but the corridor areas were horrible, smelt of disinfectant, and the foyer area filthy and smelling of cigarette smoke. Run on a shoestring? yet it was not cheap.

We stayed here 3 nights and our second time here (3 days also in 2010). The views are good from and the room was a good size and bed comfortable although the hotel needs renovating. Reasonable value for money. Staff were helpful and friendly but seemed to be very busy even though not a lot of people around - maybe... More

A room with a sea view, thats clean and comfortable excuses some of the issues downstairs. The hotel is just very "in need of TLC" Staff really friendly, food is usual old english menu, but served hot and no waiting to get served.Tables and chairs very sticky, one cloth wipes all! Very near to beach ,beach lift, and Southbourne town, although short on restaurants quite... More

We have just had 3 nights at the Commodore , and yes the whole place could do with up dating , new curtains and a bit of colour would go down well. Over all the room was very clean with a good supply of tea ,coffee and hot chocolate, the biscuits they leave on the tray are great. The breakfast... More

We have been to the Commodore regularly for a simple pub lunch but not for about 18 months. Up till now it's been fine - basic but decent portions and prices and service. Not now. Service - eventually. Tables and chairs not very clean. Food - smaller portions, higher prices. But the killer was the bar maid using her fingers... More

The hotel has a wonderful position on the cliff top at Southbourne but that is where it ends. The hotel is tired and in need of renovation, exterior is tatty and inside is tired and dated and in need of a good clean. On arrival the staff were friendly and took our order efficiently. However, it took 40 minutes for... More
